During this time I experienced no episodes of AF which I usually have three or four times a week. Do you think I have stumbled! on a quick fix for a bout of AF? Something to do with increased venous return and a kick to the sinus node to take over and do its job without interference. Perhaps some-one else would like to try this and report back.
I fractured a big toe three weeks ago... - Atrial Fibrillati...
I fractured a big toe three weeks ago and had to spend a lot of time sitting or lying with my feet raised as high as my heart.
Wow, worth a try by anyone! Will give it a go. Who knows we could all be cured!!!
Thanks for letting us know.
I can see us all now raising our feet and checking it out will let you know xfrack
When I had AF real bad 10 years ago, I had to lie down to stop myself passing out and to feel normal. But I can't remember whether that affected the rhythm, but definitely enabled my head to get some blood !
But now (till I was put on new pills) I get the wobbles when I lie down. I'd get them very slightly when I sat on the edge of the bed, that would settle after a short while, then they would come on more when I raised my legs onto the bed, but still sat at about 45 degrees to read.
Absolutely no help at all but thought I'd mention it !

My heart just goes out of rhythm and doesn't go fast, On one of our dog walks I have found a slight incline about 300 yds long. When I have AF I walk up it as fast as I can and by the time I get to the top my heart goes back into sinus. I think my heart needs to go fast to get back to normal. The doctor says it could be quite dangerous. I agree for people with heart conditions or a fast heart rate. He says he has never heard of my sort of AF. It's better for me than to take Flecainade. I was told to rest when I took this as pill in the pocket. That's the opposite to what my heart wants. No wonder it didn't work.
Hi xFrack - mmmm I broke my ankle -2years and also had to keep my leg higher than my heart and thinking about it,don't think I had an AFib episode. Certainly a good excuse to get out of the exercising. Yoga practice says that any inverted pose is good for your heart and circulation and should be practised everyday so maybe something in it. Not quite mastered the standing on the head yet!
I joked with my doctor, I can see me standing on my head if I thought it would help... Now I really can see me standing on my head! Thanks for the idea!
Last summer when I had a fracture I also had an extended period of months without AF. Pretty sure it was related to the extra rest and no work stress! Relaxing and staying stress free without the fracture is actually a better idea!
