Recovering from cardiac ablation.

Had ablation in mid Jan 2014, recovering well, pulse in sinus rhythm most of the time, only seems to become arrhythmic when i have stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Am on Amiodrone 200mg daily (since ablation), Bisopropal 5mg and Warfarin 7mg, any advice?, anyone else experiencing the same?

Keep taking the tablets as they say. It will take a while (up to three months) for things to settle down.. You might like to talk to your arrhythmia contact about the stomach cramps as the may be able to give you something for it. Not sure that it is connected with the drugs but may well be.

Just on a point of order from a bit of a pedant. Ablate means to cause to not exist, so cardaic ablation would mean you no longer have a heart. LOL Pulmonary vein isolation or just ablation and we all know what you mean for future reference.

Hope you feel better very soon.

Glad to hear you are doing well. I will be going for my fourth ablation soon. was in afib 13 days straight. I have diverticultis and yes it does make me arrythmic and flushed during episodes. My only advise is to take the cell in the bathroom with you in case you need to call for help. There is no great thing I do that brings me into the rapid afib. I hget it at rest most of the time, I was laughing sitting down this time. Another time I was in my chair typing. Sporadic.

My doctor also has me on a 30 monitor after my cardioversion until I see the new EP on Wed. This way I can hit the symptom button when I feel anything out of the ordinary. The afib is damaging the atria chamber of the heart so he needs to be sure i am in NSR all the time. I am on cardizem 180 mg daily, Xarelto daily and Multaq 800 daily.

I am in the middle of a proxamal Arial fibrillation at the moment, started 4pm yesterday, very fast heart beat ,feeling dizzy like im going to pass out and sick, perspiring no energy, had it for 6 years ,time it lasts has increased ,My heart is not the problem its a rogue signal which upsets the rhythm,so having seen the specialist twice who says they cann't operate,Im on wafarin and beta-blocker,which isn't stopping it,seeing the specialist in April again,Im usually a very active 69year old, have had to give my little job.its interfering in all aspects of my life,I have three rescue cats and I might have to rehome them as I live on my own,This is very frightening it knocks me for 6 every time I get it which is twice a month, you hve my greatest sympathy,

Applepie, if they cannot operate you, you could ask for one of the rythm controlling agents, flecainide, propafenone and others. That is if your heart is otherwise healthy. In my case they waited too long before offering rytmcontrol instead of betablock. I think.
