Call your GP or speak to your specialist Moggdog, I've just been read the riot act over ignoring a minor bleed. At least then you'll know one way or the other...the stress is not good for your AF

As Mamma says don't ignore it. Yes a very few people have a bad reaction to warfarin and it may be you are one of them. Better to postpone the ablation than risk internal bleeding. so see you doctor as soon as possible. If necessary go to A and E and explain if you don't have an out of hours facility.

By the by I had to be on it for three months prior to mine with INR stable for four weeks and then stop five days before the ablation . For my third ablation they gave me clexane injections for the five days. so there are many solutions.

Have you had your INR tested? You need to let your EP know asap- it's no good worrying about cancelation as if your INR is too high it would be dangerous to have ablation so you must be checked. However, if your INR is in range they may well not be concerned about the blood in stools- possible you just have haemorroids that bleed more easily because of the warfain??

ok offcut thanks . hope ur well mate

I am sure your doc is correct but might be best to get INR done quickly just in case? That happened to me last year and my doc said nothing to worry about but i insisted and my INR was 8! Had to rush off to hospital to get some Vit k to stop me hemorrhaging. I came off it after at my request as had two episodes of bad bleeds and cardio put me on Pradaxa :-) ...just saying as you had blood for two days? Hope all goes well with your ablation on Thurs, i'm too chicken to have one so just keep taking the tabs lol!

thanks fairy . had my inr check last tues and it was under 3 . tell me how your getting on with pradaxa ?and are you allowed to drink with that cause you cant with warfarin?

in reply tomoggdog

Thats good news re your inr. Finding Pradaxa very good so far, been on it for 9 months roughly and yes, no contraindications with alcohol or diet that i'm aware of. Sadly I can only have one alcohol drink otherwise it puts me into AF, Cardio said to strictly have none but i do occasionally sneak the odd one :-) . I am on Bisoprolol for AF but i have to also take a flecanide if i feel i am going out of sinus rhythm. Of course the downside to Pradaxa is no antidote at all so I keep a very close eye on myself and if i see the slightest bit of blood when i blow my nose then i miss a dose.

i get a bit confused with the anti coags , i spose it depends on what doc you are seeing and whether he likes he patients to be on them or not . anyway thanks fairy

in reply tomoggdog

Well i already had a stroke 10yrs ago so i was a candidate for Pradaxa as i believe not everyone can/will be prescribed. My cardio told me everyone with AF must be on anticoagulents no question and i know i have to take them for the rest of my life :-(

so whats your chad score ? or dont it matter with af ? and i know your scared to have an ablation . but theres a great chance of getting rid of af , got mine tomorrow .and dont think anyone will be more scared than me. thanks fairy

in reply tomoggdog

chads is 3....scared because i have 2 leaky valves and a murmur and also since my stroke i am left with anxiety, so the longer i can go without ablation the better lol!
