Unfortunately I couldn't attend this year. I have been referred to a cardiologist and plan to ask him questions about this but there is an 8 month waiting list so I could have morphed into a couch potato if I wait for that! Thanks
Will there be info posted from the co... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Will there be info posted from the conference about A.f. and exercise ?
Sorry, no help with the question, but 8 months !!! That's just appalling.
I know. It's because it's classed as routine apparently. I just hope I'm given enough time to ask all my questions when I finally get there!
I'm hoping to get to the London AF day this month. If there is opportunity to ask questions what would you like to know re exercise?
Hi Rosy and thanks. I have P.A.F.but I have it very often e.g about two thirds of the time. My heart is very irregular but doesn't often go much above 100.I would like to know how safe it is to do exercise when in A.F. I'm talking about gentle gym work. Nothing too energetic but more than a walk in the park. At present I am being careful not to raise my heart rate by much but would like to do a little more.once again thanks. Have a good time.x
Same question here
Are you planning for an ablation ? but had mine two months back , I'm a lot better but still under medication right now and afraid to do any exercise which raise my BP then i will have SVT and medication should be doubled again
Hi, I get AF about once a month which can last for a couple of days. I am a fit cyclists. One of the tricks I use to try and get my heart to kick back in, is to go for a cycle and push it a bit up hill. Normally works after about 30 mins cycling. My cardiologist is aware and simply says to not push too hard. Guess it depends on type of AF you have. It is as if my heart is being "lazy" when I get AF.
Actually that has happened to me too from time to time.once when I decided to ignore the heart rate monitor and just kept going I suddenly converted into. Normal rhythm but this doesn't always happen. I would just like some reassurance that I'm not doing any actual harm to my heart while exercising During an episode. Thanks for your response .
At least your post made me laugh. You are right we don't seem to get much advice from the docs over this. Maybe they just don't know the answers yet.I think we are probably best to listen to the feedback from our bodies. Sounds like you have asked all the questions I would like to ask already and got nowhere fast! Thanks anyway.
That's what the EP said to us, listen to your body and how you feel. I'm just about to start cycling again even though still got AF, but very steadily.
I haven't found exercise kicks me back into synus, but stand upright for a long time does usually. And even if you think you're back in sinus, how do know without being rigged up to an ECG? I assume you could be just asymptomatic at that time?
Thanks everyone for your help. Certainly lots to think about. X
