About 12 months ago, I was placed onto Dronedarone, and took the drug for about six weeks. Unfortunately, it had no effect on my AF, and on the advice of my cardiologist, it was discontinued. So it was ineffective for me, which was a big disappointment as I was expecting this new drug to work.

I've just realised, another Kernow type user name.........the movement grows, or is it the AF?

I was put on Dronedarone, amongst other heart drugs, last year when diagnosed. I went on to develop dermatology problems, skin and nails mainly, which started to appear after about 3 months. After another couple of months I stopped taking it on advise of my GP. The general feeling I get from both my GP and the Dermatologist is that the dronedarone triggered the condition that I'm stuck with. I think a lot was expected from this new drug but like all things in the AF world, its a bit of a lottery. Not much help I know, but all the best to you.

Ray.

Sorry, I also meant to add that the Dranedarone didn't work for me either as my AF attacks continued.

Hi. I was on Dronedarone for a few months after I had to stop taking Amiodarone due to it's side effects. Sadly although I was in NSR when I started taking Dronedarone it wasn't as effective as Amiodarone, and so I had to come off it when I lapsed back into AF.

I have been on Dronedarone for around 8 months and the drug has had little effect on the AF. It did stop the frequent, long runs of ectopic beats that were becoming a big problem for me and the AF episodes became less noticeable when they were happening. I have been advised to stay on Dronedarone for the time being as I'm waiting for an ablation. I haven't noticed any side effects.

I was on Dronedarone for 3 months last year . I don't consider that it did much for me . My EP considers it to be a ' damp squib ' in view of all the hype that greeted its arrival in the UK . Apparently it is nowhere near as effective as Amiodarone. ( I have since been on Amiodarone & had my 3rd ablation nearly 4 months ago , so fingers crossed! ) I also found that my finger nails were in a dreadful state after taking it but also found the same with Amiodarone .

It obviously works for some though -- I don't recall any other side effects .

I have been on 400 mg Dronedarone twice a day for four-five years now but still get episodes of A/F which is now getting worse i was taken of Dronedarone and put on Flecanide which made things worse so now back on Dronedarone. May be it will work for you, i also take 5mg of Bisoprolol but find im dizzy and breathless a lot of the time especially on exertion.

I've had six cardioversions and four ablations since when I was diagnosed in 2007. I was put on Amioderone after my third ablation but the side effects were terrible, best described as have a permanent megga hangover all the time so I was taken off I'll take my AF rather than Amioderone any day.

I'm having an angiogram in a weeks time and if all is ok my doctor is going to try Dronedarone. This means I will have to come off Dabigatran and go back on to Warfarin so it's back to the regular visits to the anti-coag clinic.

I'm still in AF having dizzy spells with exertion and feeling tired all the time.

I'm aiming to play in next years over 65 squash championships next year so here's hoping!!
