Is it usual for the groin to be stitched after AF catheter ablation?

I don't know if it's usual. They didn't stitch mine when they did the ablation. The nurse held pressure for about 10 minutes and that was all. I had a small amount of seeping over the next 3 days but then it stopped. They did tell me that I couldn't take a bath for a week though and not to get it too wet with a shower.

No stitch here either. Just ask them, I'm sure they would tell you why. Hope your doing well.

Have had ablation twice but no stitches.

I have had 3 ablations to date and have never been stitched but on the first two I had to stop taking warfarin for several days before, but the procedure seems to change because with the last one I was told to keep taking it. Yes I did bleed more but was not a problem.

Thanks for your replies . This was my 3rd ablation ( last Mon. ) , the first 2 were under sedation, no stitches but small haemotoma, but this one was under GA. I guess it was probably because my INR just before procedure was 3 - just hadn't heard it mentioned before. ( I wonder whether I had a first - timer doing the puncture!!?? )
