How to assess quality of the PCa clinical trials you read about- CONSORT rules

Good morning all you gentlemen with PCa.

There is often discussion about new information, clinical trials etc. I thought it might help us blokes with prostate cancer to know about the international standards for good trials.

These are the CONSORT rules - "Consolidated standards of reporting trials". These are not the be-all and end-all but they do give extra transparency to help the reader judge the quality of clinical trials.

Anyone interested in familiarising themselves with these standards should just Google CONSORT and they will find what it covers in pretty plain English.

Bottom line is that not all trials were born equal and some are classier than others!

Hope that is helpful.

One can also gauge the reliability of trials by the number of times they have been cited in scholarly journals and examining the credentials of the researchers. It may be a lot of work to vet them in these ways, but may keep one from pursuing dead ends.
