Daily dosage of what? What therapy? What are the details of your diagnosis? (There's nothing in your profile)

Hi latino57,sorry to hear of your Prostate Cancer diagnosis. It can be a big shock when first told of the bad news, but that initial shock should lessen with time. The good news is that you have found one of... if not ...THE best sites for very valuable information on Advanced Prostate Cancer (PCa ). However, in order to get the best help here the members and Patient Advocates must have the clinical details of your disease i.e. what your test results show and what your oncologist says about your stage of PCa.

You will need to read up on PCa and the different "stages" of PCa and find out where your stage of disease is at. There is alot to learn ,but it is very important in order for you to be able to ask the right questions and understand the replies you get. I wish you well and good luck.

OK I understand you must be feeling frightened. The first step is to get as much information from your attending doctors as you can about your diagnosis and what steps they recommend. You can then use that information to do some basic research from reliable sources - national guidelines, cancer charities and so on.

Once you have done that you will be able to formulate your own questions and then come back here to ask more focussed questions with your own situation clearer.

All the best.

I should add that where you live is information responders here need to know as options vary between healthcare systems.

Sorry that circumstances have brought you here among us, Brother. There is a lot to know, a lot to understand. On this forum you will find a broad range of diagnosis, treatment regimes, and responses. There is no correct or only way for us to deal with it. Many experience grief, in all its forms, as a first stage - including denial and anger, leading, maybe, to acceptance and getting on to the life we have. Good luck.

Daily and how long? Hmmmmm

There is no cure for Cancer! It's not a cold... If you got it, consider it the Gift for Life!

Don't fool yourself thinking you'll do a quick hit and be done with it. That'll be a mistake!

Even for patients who treat and eventually get to NED (No Evidence of Disease) they don't walk away Scott Free... There'll still be testing and monitoring afterwards.

Regards

Most of the folks on this site have educated themselves about Prostate cancer, the differences in it, and medications, and procedures that help them with it.

A great place to start is the National Institute of Health. search.nih.gov Put "Prostate" in the search box. Another is Harvard Health. health.harvard.edu. Same thing put "Prostate" in the search box. Harvard health has annual summaries of healthcare for specific conditions, but they will ask for a $25 charge for it. I found the donation to be well worth it.

Make sure you have a team if Primary Care Physician, Oncologist, Urologist and possibly Cardiologist that you feel good about, and along with listening to them, ask questions and follow what they tell you.

Meds will become a daily occurrence. You wil get side effects from them some that are minor and some major. Be diligent about taking your meds.

Prescription costs can be a burden. If excessive.

Best of luck on you Journey.
