Cardiotoxicity.

Oncology follow up with new oncologist this morning. Had 3 cycles of non-standard Carboplatin as other treatments exhausted. I’ve struggled with feeling grim after cycles 1&2 though 3 more tolerable. Had issues with kidney function and cardio function. I probably have a legacy of cardio toxicity from Hodgkins Lymphoma chemo and radiotherapy. The new oncologist is concerned about the impact of cardiotoxicity of current treatment and on my QOL. He wonders if we delay further cycles to see if cardiac symptoms improve. Being well supported on medication for prevention and now GTN for putative angina. He does wonder if the angina type pain might be referred from bony mets??

Sorry, a bit rambling but I know that I am getting near the end of ‘treatment’ and life expectancy running out so life in my years/months is important as I’m sure it is for all of us.

Additionally, cardiology are sorting Echo & stress test. Feeling well supported by specialist and primary care and remain feeling blessed.

Totally agree with you. Unfortunately the Prostate Oncology Docs do not interact with the Cardiologists. I had an Aortic Valve replacement two years ago due to a bicuspid valve where my EF was only 28% at the time in heart failure. It bounced back to 52% and saved my life. The issue is, I use my natural and medicinal protocols to lower my PSA as I have for over 10 years. It's only when I use any LHRH agonists of NSAA's , even intermittently, my EF fraction will drop to 40% alarming the Cardiologist. I simply try to tell him my heart bounces back and the subsequential Echocardiograms prove it.
