White Blood Cell Counts and Neutrophils Cratering to Numbers Seen at Crest of My Cancers

On Abby and Lupron for two years. For years before APC, WBC measurements were fairly low at 4K/microliter.

Normal monthly trends were averaging around 3.5 to 4 with a spike toward nirvana during hospital stays.

Yesterday’s measurements were an extremely discouraging 2.5k per microliter. So the plan was to retest and set up a visit with hematologist this week

I am not big on supplements even though I caught a lot of heat from the Community for mentioning I love pumpkin seed sprouts. But I did start drinking green tea last night!

Suggestions from those who have conquered this problem? Transfusions? I haven’t had an infection since May but I wear an N95 publicly.

Thank you, May God bless you!

BTW I caught some heckling about being on palliative care and racing my palliative care nurse on our hospital’s sky bridge several months ago . That’s ok I was joking yesterday evening with my APN about racing one of my young doctors next week in a power walk. She’s a beautiful lady who will bring her nursing corp to cheer for her. My APN said “She”s not going to know what hit her” my being a 70 year old in reasonably good shape and her probably mid 30s. Much fun! I am going to invite several of my doctors too to cheer for me at the finish line.

To the heckler, yes I believe I will be cured through the grace of God but if I don’t conquer this Ihuge WBC issue ….I won’t be able to tolerate the treatments to get me there. Cheer with me man, we are in the same boat! Other than neuroendocrine cancer, my cancers of the poorly differentiated kind are the toughest most aggressive out there and apparently they couldn’t measure a Gleason on it. If you look at a Gleason chart you will see the poorly differentiated shapes with a Gleason of 10. Maybe I would be at a 20 if there was such a thing and I absolutely hate being an over achiever for bad stuff like low WBC and extremely aggressive cancers. Don’t wear palliative care as a label that you are not going to make it! It’s just an easy way out for hospitals who don’t think aggressive treatments will make a difference. Take control of your destiny. I just have to hang on in the meantime.

Thank you again for your WBC suggestions!

Shit with your attitude and humor you'll beat your Pca just like you'll beat the nurse if you wear roller skates. Keep on Moving on....

Ha, ha good buddy! She might be practicing secretly and take me to the cleaners. Honestly don’t know why she accepted the challenge but she’s one in my camp. Helped me out of my alt universe during my last hotel stay. Show up at the Mays clinic (the Finish line) where the dune buggies park at 12:15 pm Tuesday and see if I am racing by myself. These race car drivers really get a kick of watching and the patients….they love to see somebody giving it their all given all the misery around them. I just want the love picture with my doc at the finish line. I won’t be denied. Just got a text seconds ago my friend in San Antonio will be in Laredo and can’t make it. Pick your best set of skates out of the closet and come on down. I’m inviting my whole church! John, you make me laugh so hard, I don’t see how anybody could not be amused. Keep up the good work!

Forgot to tell you. My palliative nurse was Miss Universe, my doctor Miss Galaxy.

So here's an agreement that you and the nurse should read, sign and have notarized.

"I agree that the winner of the race will perform one free DRE on the loser.

The winner will not wear protective gloves and will pick the finger of his/her choosing (Thumbs included).

Any additional DRE's will be charged for at the going medical rate.

Mutual simultaneous DRE's will be free of all charges.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good humor.
