I hope that this is allowed, but I understand that my husband may have been a comfort to some of the members of this group.
Brent passed away at home in my arms on 24 September 2024. He had been confined to bed for nearly a month before that. His energy levels got less and less as time went by. He entertained family and friends until the last 2 days. He was still playing with maps and rocks, listening to the radio and charming the carers near to the end.
For those of you who may have asked, please find a link to the hospice that Brent visited and enjoyed.
I am very sorry to hear of Brent’s passing. Through his posts, I felt his zest for life and his passion for painting. I sensed that Brent’s painting was an extremely important outlet for him. Hopefully, while home, you can look at a wall and see a piece of his work, conjuring up good memories.
My heartfelt condolences on your loss. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for letting us know Jacqui. Brent helped me a lot with his wonderful paintings and provided a lovely alternative to some of the things we discuss here. I know that you must be hurting a lot and I hope that you can take care of yourself a bit now and know that Brent will be missed by many even though we never met.
Thought about him few days ago, I was looking at some equipment for watercolor painting. God bless you and your family, I hope you will soon feel better. He is at peace now, probably painting. A big hug with love to you all.
Jacqui, Thank you for letting us know about Brent's passing. My condolences to you and your family and friends.
Brent brought a lot of joy to those of us who followed his experiments with painting techniques. He inspired me to pick up a brush again, for which I am grateful to him.
I'm glad that Brent was able to enjoy being with all of you near the end. He expressed on this forum how important you were to him, and how he hoped to be able to create a painting that was worthy of being hung on your wall to keep his memory alive.
Dear Jacqui, I'm so sorry for your loss. I loved his paintings and his remarks about the wonderful hospice. I've been thinking about Brent lately...missing his posts here, thank you for letting know. He showed how to live with grace. Take care of yourself. -Deb
I’m soooo sorry to hear of Brent’s passing. He was such a great guy and his art inspirational. Brent helped those of us following right behind to know and understand the type of hospice care he experienced and how it might be for us. Thanks for telling us, I’m sending out a warm ehug for you Jacqui. My deepest condolences.
Jacqui, I am so very sorry. I have been enjoying Brent's posts and his artwork for almost two years, since my husband and I joined this group. Brent was a treasure in so many ways. Please know that we will miss him here. Sending hugs, and wishing you peace and strength and comfort.
Jacqui, let me add that I just watched the video you linked. Thank you so much. It is lovely, and I so enjoyed seeing what I had seen Brent describe. It was also a balm for a sore soul this morning in America. Much needed.
I was another that followed Brent. Enjoyed his stories and paintings. I hope you find some peace in all of this. Thanks for updating us. My family's condolences.
What a wonderful life you both shared together. I have been thinking about Brent recently and am so sorry to read of his passing. Please accept my sincerest heartfelt condolences. Cherish the memories forever in your heart. Sending you love and light.
Thank you Jacqui for posting. I had been checking Brent's account on here and was getting sader that something had happened but that we would never know.
Brent was a nice person, one of the good guys. My sincere condolences. Thank you for supporting Brent to the end. He was lucky to have you. Please take the time to heal and remember the good times. This is another sad day in here.
I’m sorry to hear that. I always looked forward to Brent’s posts and his paintings. I hope you’re doing okay, at least well as can be expected given the situation.
Thank you for letting us know. I’ve been thinking about him lately and wondered how he was doing.
We've been anticipating this for some time as he was quite candid about his hospice experience. He certainly impacted me through his posts and his art. We have lost someone very special. I'm so grateful for the care you have given him and that he was loved to the end. Be assured of my prayers as you walk through this loss.
I too was missing posts from Brent and was about the ask about him since the last I had read was bout him losing his appetite. I’m sorry to hear of his passing but I hope his memories and paintings will bring you and others much joy in the future.
As another famous artist here in the US would say- “let's add some happy little trees". Brent is probably painting us some beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Peace be with you and your family.
Will you please post some of his paintings again for us all. The first words from my mouth when seeing your post were, oh f--k. I loved reading his posts, the way he was inspired to put the beauty around him down on paper, so as fulfill his wants and also to share with others. He has truly left his mark on the world. Stay safe.
My deepest condolences, Jacqui. Sending you prayers and hugs as you begin to try to navigate this time of change in your life. So many of us have been there and understand what this time is like. I hope you find comfort in being able to be with Brent until the very end. That is an incredible and wonderful gift to give to the one you love. Wishing you peace <3
I will miss him since I enjoyed teasing him and his bantering back about his paintings. May he be in Heaven surrounded by and painting the beautiful tropical island of Trinidad and its waters..
Thank you for sharing this news. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I agree with the comments above noting the enjoyment that Brent got from his painting and then sharing the final product with us. I thought he was great and told him so! I was thinking just a few days ago that it had been a while since we got a new picture, and I was apprehensive that perhaps the end had come. So glad you could be there with him. May he rest in peace.
Oh no! Brent was one of my favorite posters on this website! His watercolor paintings were a source of inspiration and joy, reflecting his spirit and creativity.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. I hope you find some comfort in knowing how much Brent touched our lives and how fondly he will be remembered.
Dear Jacqui, I grieve with you. Brent was a special person, and we are all better for having known him here, and for the art he shared with us. He inspired me to get back into art, and for that I am grateful. I hope his love and memories bring you peace.
