Hello my dad started radiation for bone Mets to a few areas on his body.

It’s been 2 days he will have 3 more treatments and that’s it.

He’s complaining of not feeling well after 2 treatments he feels nauseous and his bone pain is worse

Is this normal I asked the nurses but they didn’t seem that helpful I wanted to ask people who actually have had it done.

When should we expect him to feel better with bone pain relief and less nauseous!

I’m worried if he doesn’t feel better he may never want to try more treatments.

Thank you

The pain usually gets worse before it gets better. I don't know where the bone meets are, but nausea may be related to dose to the intestines if they are nearby.

Thank u they r in the humerus, clavicle, hip bone, and sacrum so I just hope and pray he sees relief soon. We only have 3 more treatments I’m praying for some pain relief in the next few weeks? God willing

Its horrifying when it’s spread out like that . Many prayers Olivia.. Stay strong yourself . Let pray he gets better soon ? The side effect of fatigue comes after for most .At least it did for me. Get him up and moving . It’s very easy to just want to curl up in a ball while he’s being assailed .. May God Bless you both in these next few weeks . Please stay in touch ! Ask questions.Very few can’t be answered . 🕊🙏

I’d say it is normal . Hope is it’s working against those bone mets. Fatigue can show me up also ., the further away from it he gets the better he will feel . All treatments are poison and take a toll on the host . I pray it works and he improves . It’s sucks to see him suffer ., Love him much .🙏

Haven't had radiation yet, but after one of the bone treatments I had unbearable side effects similar to your Dad's. The Dr should be able to provide medicine for both the pain and nausea to help him get through these treatments.

I had radiation both femurs and shoulder, some additional pain and fatigue. Both were better in 2 weeks. With legs myself, like your dad likely need treatment to help leg from breaking.

Sorry to hear of your dad's pain and nausea. I had radiation to spine (T7) for 10 days last August. Chronic pain before therapy. No nausea but pain didn't improve for a month, then gradual and significant improvement, until now. Week after treatment also had burning pain in esophagus so painful to eat and drink for 10 days. Now I'd say it was well worth having the therapy.

I had 39 session of radiation of the prostate bed..... with absolutely no side effects..... to me it was like getting x-rays at my dentist... Hope your Dad can manage the side effects.... Give him my regards and you deserve a medal..... God Bless....

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
