It could be a Pca met, and not lung cancer. Without a biopsy I am not sure how they can tell the difference? Did you have any specific kinds of scans?

If it is PCa it is more radio sensitive than lung cancer (meaning radiation might be very effective)

Thanks for the info. It was picked up on a CT scan, twice, first at 1 cm then 4 months later at 2.6 cm with a spiculated shape; my medical oncologist is certain its lung cancer, but I will get a PET scan this Thursday at Duke. They have not mentioned biopsy yet, but maybe they will.

hmmm. If pc has spread. You should see meta beyond the prostrate down below.

I was convinced my pc spread to lungs even though no Mets found below. Being pc most always, most but not always, one should see met below before lungs.

Only way you and drs will find out is a lung biopsy. A Pmsa pet scan may suffice. If lungs light up like the prostrate.

I am going thru similar now. Started round 1 of chemo and adt for lungs and adt for prostrate 3 weeks ago. Due for round2 this week.

Do not ignore.

had lung 2x mets on right lung from rectal CA 30 & 31 years ago. They did VATs first, then a year later a thoracotomy. No chemo, no radiation, still alive…

Thanks for the info. They have not mentioned biopsy yet, only a PET scan and breathing test.

Performed in Sloan Kettering.

I had lung cancer due to my skin cancer (melanoma metastasized) and was treated with Keytruda and that worked (approximately 6 years ago).

However during a C/T scan two months ago a new set of "spots" were discovered on my lungs and doctor will have me take a C/T scan later next month (Nov. 2024) to verify if it's Ca or just an infection.

Note; Doc pointed out that if the spots are round then it's not Ca if the spots are pointed then it's not ok.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Thanks, the nodule is sadly not round but very pointy, most likely lung cancer. PET scan in two days.

an 8mm spot was discovered on my left lung. My Oncologist ordered a PSMA pet which showed it to be metastasizes from my PC. I had the tumor radiated and it lowered my PSA tp <.06.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure they will recommend surgery, not radiation, but we'll see.

My father was diagnosed with PC at stage 4, multiple skeletal mets. For some reason had a chest x-ray which showed a nodule. He was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of lung. In staging during a mediastinoscopy, they found multiple cancerous nodes. They assumed it was lung cancer, and he was prepared for chemo. Sometime later I was contacted by the pathologist (this was at MSKCC) who told me they had done some immune testing of the cancerous mediastinal nodes and they were prostate. So how about the lung nodule? Though it had been a couple of months since the needle biopsy on his lung, they went back to the slides, had to soak off the cover slips, and were able to do immune testing of the lung lesion. It was indeed a primary lung tumor. So instead of chemo, he was prepared for surgery. He had the lobe removed. He was about 83 at the time. He made it to 91, and when he died, it was neither the prostate cancer nor the lung cancer that got him.

Thanks for the info on your dad, I suspect they will also recommend a lobectomy for me as well.

Can I assume they've ruled out that it could be prostate? If you do get the lobectomy, hope it goes well. My dad did OK for an old guy. This was almost 20 years ago.

My oncologist referred me to surgeon as he was almost 100% sure it was lung cancer, not a prostate cancer metastasis.

Hello, there's nothing good I can say about Lupron. I had a two year round Lupron injections every three months right after diagnosis PC stage 4, that's about 7 years ago. Them I went through a forced three years (lack of access to medication) and again started in November 2022 until stopped in May this year. I did not experience any major SE the first time, this last time was horrible. I started rapidly declining. Fatigue, lack of sleep, muscle cramps at night. But the worse of all is the weight gaining, I spiked from my average 140 lbs to now 211 pounds. And no, I did not change my eating habits, also my bone structure is very fragile. My Oncologist has warned me to stop running because If I fall down there's it's a great risk to sustaina fracture. This was proven true when last February while walking on a curb a tripped down and broke my right arm.So, my hopes of SE reversing is fading each day. Lupron depleted my testosterone and it is not coming back. I am 61 y/o but look and act as if I was at least 20 years older. Like I said, no Lupron for me again, ever!
