I've been reading papers for the past few months on HT and what the lack of it can do to a man. If you listened to this talk - it seems that the hard and fast rule of no-T supplimtation may not be so hard and fast, and there are cases, including high-risk where correcting T to what would be a natural level after radiation/ADT treatment finished isn't adding a lot of risk to the equation.

Is there some risk? "Maybe" is my read, so close monitoring of PSA and T will be really important in pursuing this.

The other factor that comes in is age. I'm 78. I have multiple comorbidities, any one of which could cause death. Some of the comorbidities are made worse by having low-T. My family is long-lived, so perhaps I have 6-8 more years to circle the sun.

Do I want to live those years dealing with the low-T issues or do I take a shot at improving those issues which might make having 4-6 years with better QOL a worthwhile trade? I don't want to repeat the experience of my father, who had PCA and the same comorbidities - the last 4-5 years he spent wishing he was dead. That's no way to get through life.

And again - the goal I have is to bring my T level up to one that would be normal for a man my age. That's considered to 325-800. I know once I dropped below 300 issues with mobility became a major concern. That's not a radical idea, it's not doing it just for muscle gain or fitness, I'm hoping to stop and further deterioration and perhaps regain some of my lost strength and mobility.

As much as I might wish to pass from this earth the same way as Nelson Rockefeller did - chances are slim - right now there is no chance of that. :)
