I’m considering HBOT for cystitis and proctitis 11 months after HDR Brachyboost with pelvic SBRT. Just finished 1 year ADT.
Here’s my concern. 11 months later, I know my cancerous cells are still in the process of dying and not being able to divide anymore.
The idea of HBOT is to increase certain stem cell populations through enhanced oxygen delivery, contributing to improved tissue repair and generation.
But I’m wondering what type of tissue it’ll be repairing and if there’s any chance it could be cancerous tissue as well. I’m assuming the DNA of the cancer is busted so there won’t be an issue, but does anyone have specific insight? If there’s remaining cancer, could HBOT exacerbate it?

I asked my doctor at Sloan Kettering this question and he advised that HBO2 therapy would not cause increased cancer - and I had lung nodule prostate cancer - so very exposed to oxygen. I had 70 sessions and did not see any changes.
Ok, just found a few articles about studies that suggest a hypoxic (low oxygen) environment can actually stimulate cancer growth and that adjuvant cancer cell oxygenation may help chemo and radiation’s effectiveness. HBOT has even been found to reduce tumor growth in some but not all cancers.
So at the very least, I’ll oxygenate with peace of mind…
Just FYI..... and not for treatments. I had my lung cancer due to my neck melanoma metastasizing to my lungs. Was treated at MSKcc with Keytruda and it worked.
According to Dr Thomas Seyfried (I highly recommend listening to him on YouTube) a highly oxygenated environment would kill cancer stem cells as it kills as cancer grow by fermentation no oxygen. It is a pro-oxident environment. Great to use antioxidants a few hours after but not at the same time. The same with IVC. From my studies it would be great for the lungs.
