price of Provenge?

Provenge isn't covered in Canada. It's been more than a decade since it was approved in the US as monotherapy in the US. Has the price come down?

Wow, that's come down a lot! When I had mine in 2021 the charge was $105,403.45 per treatment, but Medicare "only" paid $36,367.46. I didn't pay anything so I don't know who picked up the rest or if that just didn't get paid (and thus was a tax write off). Since there were 3 treatments, that totals $316,210.35 if one were paying out-of-pocket in 2021. Not too bad for a cancer treatment in the US but still a totally ridiculous price, even the amount Medicare paid!

As noted "who picked up the rest of it?' Uncle Sam did as a precursor to the unlimited tax budget we will spend on illegal aliens......(If Sammy can spend it on them, he surely can spend it on us).... Bless you and Bless us....

Thanks for your response. I suppose that price of almost $70k is per treatment and 3 treatments are required. Yikes!

Just come on down to the US and walk into any pharmacy and take whatever you want.... It's all Free...........Store security guards will even help you carry the booty to your shopping cart parked outside (the one piled high with all the free stuff) ...Tipping not required...

I think the ridiculous cost since the start is in having your blood shipped to their facility and having it "conditioned" to fight your cancer. It wouldn't be like other drugs where the cost comes down years later as it becomes "generic".
