What the most current news on getting an erection while fighting this damn disease?
I recently switched from 10mg Cialis every 3rd day to daily 5mg pills. I have not noticed a difference yet.
I know some here may have experience with the injections - i guess that is next step outside of implants of whatever.
I have a pump and it can give some erection but as soon as pressure is released hardness goes away.
Anyways, just general conversation around this SE that some might say isn't much of a concern overall and I get that and agree - it is however still important for many of us.
Thanks HU

I have used it 3 days in a row without problem. I had to experiment to get adequate dose but it does get hard as a rock, if I don't measure quite right it stays hard for about 4 hrs and can go a second round easily. It takes about 20 minutes to activate. Funny story, on vacation with wife and few other people go to their cabana and their 22 year old daughter answers the door and I have a raging hard on after sex 2 hrs previously. Without batting an eye she says "is this how it is going today cuz I am not participating" Hahahaha have some crazy friends. This drug is a life saver
Rings must be used with the Vacuum Erection Device (VED, and AKA "the pump) in order to maintain an erection when vacuum is released -- see pump instructions. I had a difficult time figuring out which ring or rings gave the best longevity and with the least pain. Always seemed like it ended up being a floppy sausage attached to my body.
Trimix works quite well. Injection site needs varied within the allowable area, titration up to the least dose needed for a usable erection is required at the start AND with each new vial. Be knowledgeable about the procedure for dealing with priapism (erection lasting longer than four hours). Inform your URO if signs of Peyronie's Disease develops (penile curvature due to scar tissue formation). Stimulation increases erection.
The AMS-700 penile implant is absolutely wonderful. If an implant is selected, there is no chance of going back to either other method since the corpus cavernosa is replaced by the inflatable chambers of the implant. Experienced surgeon is suggested. Have to wait 6-8 weeks before first use after implantation. Even though all precautions are taken, there is a small risk of infection, which could seriously impact length of recovery and maybe require extra procedures. My recovery was uneventful.
My experience is similar to the description by farmanerd: Poor experience with VED for sex (although effective for penile rehabilitation), and positive results from tri-mix. However, I have not had need to change the amount injected: The 16 units prescribed in 2019 still works satisfactorily through several refills of the prescription although it seems less effective when near or at the "use by" date. I also monitor for any signs of incipient Peyronie's disease but okay so far.
Uh, I think you use the pump first, then put on the ring to trap blood in your member, and not for longer than 30 minutes. I think the ring can often be slipped off the bottom of the pump, but has to be tight enough to constrict the trapped blood from flowing out. 🦊
Cialis has minimal effect on me at this point. The pump is great for getting an erection but not for maintaining one-but I know some are happy with them.
I did not like Trimix at all, but same-some obviously do very well with it. The implant seems the way I will go. I hear nothing but satisfaction from those who have them.
my experience with injectables wasnt straight forward. First was bimix. It half worked. But it was not satisfactory. Also the whole storage in fridge thing bothered me. I almost gave up. Then went back to specialist and he switched me to trimix (initial strength). First time I tried that it was worse than bimix. But I noted on injection that the plunger was difficult to depress. After doing a bit of reading discovered that the fine needle can miss one of the two spongy tubes. Attempt number 2 with better technique hit the mark and within 10 to 15 minutes had pre RP familiar normal boner which lasted for maybe 90 minutes or so. It also did not wilt after orgasm: bonus. This was at the starter dose of 15 on the little hypodermic. The advice was to start at 15 and go up if required.
anyway bottom line, injections are ok. A little spring loaded gun with the needles also helps: it is point, press button (small ouch) push plunger. I never look at blood draws so am squeamish with skin punctures.
anyway I am ok with trimix and do not need to consider implants yet though I heard they work great too.
Hubs got the C-trimixx and it does work. Keeps in the freezer and preps a dose in the tiny syringes. Doc said to use no more than 3 times per week. Otherwise in addition to a daily low dose Cialis uses a half Viagra pill (on days the injection is not used). At this point he says the injections last longer than the blue pill. Orgasms seem to be a thing of the past however. Is that a Lupron side effect? He’s been on quarterly Lupron shots (after taking bicalutimide last year) for six months. Testosterone just measured and down to 11! So grateful for any action! He is 78!
My MO prescribed 10mg of Cialis daily after stopping Lupron (18 months of the Devil shots). That was in Aug. of 22 and I have been taking them every day since. Yes, it was months before I felt any changes. I met someone in June of 23 and we married in August. She is VERY happy with our time in bed. My ED problems are no more.
After my rad prostatectamy I started with the little blue pill. After a yr of frustration I switched to the llittle rice looking things I stuffed in the unit. That was a fail. Then onto the injections. Painful as one can imagine, but the bigger problem was it didnt always work. Abandoning that we moved to the pump, which was pretty good for a few years until it began to break down the base of my crank and was pulling veins into the tube. Very painful. After all of this we made the decision to get the implant and have never looked back. It really is the best (once you get past a tough surgery) and has been great for 7 years now. Some would say to just give up on sex but I was only 46 when diagnosed and that would have been unfair to my wife.
The injections are inconvenient, but they work to some degree. You keep the trimix in the freezer, so it takes time to thaw, then fill a needle to whatever dose your doc says you need, then poke your little friend in the side, careful to avoid the bigger veins, get the needle all the way in there past the sheath that covers your vena cavernosa, inject, pull the needle out and hold your penis at the injection for a minute, then knead your penis for two minutes to get the injection spread about, then you might have an erection firm enough for penetration, for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on whether or not your doc got the dose right. If you and your partner are still in the mood after all that, you may get some pleasure out of it
Hi. Sorry for you and all the others who have the erection issue. I mean it, I truly am sorry. I haven't had an erection for 7 years. I am now almost 74 years old. (I was legendary for my erection.) I believe j-o-h-n can still get an erection when he whips Dolly out of the closet. Boner is a definite j-o-h-n word. Where are you j-o-h-n? For those of us who are limp, I salute you. But not with my penis.
Shoot... "RMC (Ready Mix Concrete)" works for me and Dolly. Some say I invented the word "boner" but that isn't so......... I invented the expression "Rock Hard".....
