Study of AMG 509 in Participants With Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer
Got message via person chat :
my father participated in this amg 509 trial and stopped after 8 infusions as I don’t think it was successful for him.
My father participates in the clinical trial. He received around 10 infusions of different dosage. Accumulating side effects getting worse and requiring hospitalization at times. Apparently it works really well on him and the PSA went really low and density of tumor reduced in PET. Doctors says he is a very good example of good response to treatment. But the side effects makes it really difficult.

A recent clinical trial involving an experimental drug called AMG 509/Xaluritamig, saw a reduction in blood levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a tumor marker, in nearly half of participating patients. A quarter of participating patients whose tumors could be measured saw shrinkage on scans. This drug targets a protein called STEAP-1 on prostate tumor cells and an antigen called CD3 on T cells. Several clinical trials involving that drug are now underway at MD Anderson.
I am currently in a clinical trial with amg 509 at the Vall d'Hebron hospital in Barcelona. I have received two infusions, once I receive 6 they will do CT, MRI.
Hello,
I received my eighth dose of amg 509 yesterday. My oncologist's own words: This is working.
I started the clinical trial on August 7th. I followed the guidelines as stated:
-1st dose, 0.1mg. As a safety measure I was hospitalized for 24 hours, I had no side effects and left the hospital.
-2nd dose, one week later, 0.3mg
-3rd dose, one week later, 0.75. At this point I started having cytokine release syndrome. I had muscle pains, I was taking paracetamol but it wasn't enough.
4th dose, a week later I reached the maximum dose, 1.5mg. The pain increased
5th dose a week later, 1.5mg, the pain was quite excruciating. the oncologist then prescribed me a patch of fentanyl and dexamethasone, 8mg daily, maximum dose.
6th dose, TWO weeks later, here thanks to the fentanyl, dexamethasone and the extra week, the pain subsided and now it's totally gone, I'm feeling great and going for the 8th dose.
The oncologist is lowering my dose of dexamethasone.
On the 7th dose the PSA dropped from 4.4 to 1.73. Bone scintigraphy, CT, and MR-PSMA did not detect new metastases, according to the study I am a patient with stable disease, so they feel that I can continue the clinical trial.
I will finish around January 2025, I will be taking pictures every 7 sessions.
In this link there is very complete information. It is about the initial phase, I am in a second phase and in addition to amg 509 I am in the cohort that must take abiraterone.
If you want to know more, ask me.
