Nubeqa Commercial

Anybody else out there getting the Nubeqa commercial on every commercial break? It's pissing me off. I feel targeted and getting reminded that I have metastatic prostate cancer on every commercial break sucks!! I can't get to the mute button fast enough. If I am targeted by use of my searchs somehow seems like a class action is justified for harassment and mental anguish. Add that I was denied this drug and its only SOC for a specific use makes the barrage of commercials even more questionable.

Anyway, just needed to vent to others that might understand.

Thanks

Yo Bro, What's Up 😁

Sorry about those constant reminders but I learned YEAR'S AGO ---

*gotta let things flow like water off a duck's back*

NO matter how bad things are in my life there's always children and others worse off than me. I cry for them.

Like your recent biking/hiking 👍👍

I don't disagree but this has been constant for months now amd I just wanted to vent. More time on my bike and less in front of the TV is a good plan.

For sure, still in low 50s here but getting very close. Planning on doing some touring this year. Just short overnighters for now but we'll see there may be some backcountry trips as well.

I look at your speeds and elevation changes and salivate :0)

I just checked yours and 115 ft of elevation! That's tall for flatville. You must have hit that 25 foot hill at least 4 times :0)And for speed you would still be waiting for me, but come out and we can see.

I think you are right to be pissed off about that, and unless it is one hell of a coincidence it sure looks like you are being targeted. If its TV commercials I don't know how they can be tailored to individuals, not saying they can't just I don't know enough about it.

Hopefully someone here will chime in on what actions you can do to respond to that...as you say..harassment. Very bad form on their ( Manufacturers ) part!

I watch mostly streaming TV Hulu, Paramount +, and about a year ago was pushing for Nubeqa and did a bit of research. Me and my wife joke about our phones listening. We talk about something and then get some article on it on the Google feed. It'd happened so many times it couldn't be a coincidence. Big Brothet 😀

Brad70 profile image
Brad70 in reply to treedown

No joke. Your phone is listening. You must turn it off if you want to stop it.

treedown profile image
treedown in reply to Brad70

At times it seems that way and if it is I am not really concerned as it's not going too hear anything interesting, but if it's used in collaboration with streaming services that's just diabolical.

It’s not you that’s being targeted, it’s your demographic. Stop watching old people shows. Better yet, stop watching standard TV programming. There are better options.

treedown profile image
treedown in reply to London441

Thanks for the advice but I have no desire to watch young peoples or children's TV and I am old so I'll keep watching what I like, that is when I choose to watch TV.

There is a world of great shows for older people! They have money. Streaming is your solution. Standard TV is out, daddy-o.

Unless you’re into reruns of programming from your youth, which I can understand. But it does come with ads for the Nubeqa, Depends, reverse mortgages, etc

treedown profile image

I have been using only streaming services for about 5 years now. Which is why I wondered about being targeted.

Ah of course. Well you have to pay the extra for no advertising, which seems insane but that’s life. I pay it gladly for my video and audio streaming, but I understand those who either refuse or can’t afford.

"... I was denied this drug and its only SOC for a specific use..."

I wanted Nubeqa because of all the ARPI drugs, it crossed the brain barrier less. But I was denied it unless I also took the chemo docetaxel which I don't want at age 81.

Nubeqa is, quote: For prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and responds to medical or surgical treatment that lowers testosterone (mHSPC), in combination with docetaxel.

Bayer could sell a lot more Nubeqa if they and the FDA could drop the chemo requirement.

I am aware and was denied for what I believe was the same reason and wanted it to avoid the steroids needed with Zytiga. I may still get it as chemo may be in my future.

vintage42 profile image
vintage42 in reply to treedown

I wanted to avoid Xtandi and Erleada for their ability to cross the brain barrier. With Nubeqa denied, I went to Abiraterone a month ago (generic Zytiga). What would the problem be with the Prednisone that is taken with it?

treedown profile image
treedown in reply to vintage42

Everybody keeps saying it just replaces what's lost with the Zytiga but the first question I was asked at a DEXA scan is have you been on steroids. My answer was yes for almost 2 years. They didn't ask how much, what kind, what for, or anything else so my concern is bone health. I do not have anything scientific to say this is an issue so it's just something that concerned me, right or wrong.

vintage42 profile image

I see that: cedars-sinai.org/health-lib...

I had a baseline DEXA scan before starting Prednisone with the Abiraterone (Zytiga), and will repeat after a year. So what did your DEXA scan show about bone density after two years of steroids?

treedown profile image
treedown in reply to vintage42

No baseline, my second shielded improvement 2 years later but then I had been off the drugs for almost a year.

vintage42 profile image
vintage42 in reply to treedown

It is not clear about your first steroid use 2 years ago --what drug and what for? And whether that did cause loss of density back then, for which the new DEXA showed improvement?

Are you saying you took Prednisone with Zytiga for prostate cancer, stopped it 2 years ago, found bone loss then, but improvement now?

treedown profile image
treedown in reply to vintage42

Sorry yes, my first time around at initial treatment was 2 years on Lupron, Zytiga, and Pred. I had about a year off all meds and started all again a little over a year ago.

vintage42 profile image
vintage42 in reply to treedown

OK. I think loss of bone density can also come from the two hormone therapy drugs, not entirely due to the steroid Prednisone. I have recently started Orgovyx plus Abiraterone (Zytiga) and Prednisone. If one needs the Abi+Pred, I would not let bone density loss rule them out. Calcium and weight bearing exercise can help, with bone agents like Prolia as a last resort.

treedown profile image
treedown in reply to vintage42

In my case there are multiple potential causes and I am not saying I am correct about not wanting to take Prednisone again but I would have preferred to not. It's all somewhat moot as I am taking it now. Thanks for the other info. I am aware and have discussed bone agents with my MO and taken action to address my bone density.

If you’re watching regular cable I’m not aware of any way they can target you. If you use YouTube TV and you use Chrome I wouldn’t be surprised.

I wouldn’t be surprised if whatever search engine/internet browser you use sells your data and it is then used.

I stream local Chicago radio station when in FL and CO and get local FL and CO ads. They know.

And then there are those Veozah commercials about Hot Flashes! Like I needed a reminder about how horrible those are. So I decided to try it and the flashes are gone!
