Well, that’s something isn’t it? Have you ever seen that much cancer in someone’s head?
Both my radiation oncologist and my and my regular oncologist at City of Hope said that this is something very unusual for prostate cancer to do.
So there getting all of it for research to investigate what the hell happened,
That muscle is most of the temporalis muscle above the ear. It’s very large, so is the tumor in the brain and of course the bone. They put a titanium plate over where the bone came out.

wow …. aPCa never ceases to surprise. The bad news being that “ that “ could happen at all / it being so rare … and yet it happened to you. The up side is they got that “ thing “ out of you and you are on your way to healing and a greater wellness. I’m so sorry to see that this happened to you brother, hopefully you’ll heal right up and keep on trucking. Your being so young is a big bonus of sorts too. “ they “ probably wouldn’t bother with that kind of surgery in us old guys hovering around 80 or more.
Sending out a big ehug brother for your having to suffer this ordeal . You are one tough cookie . Hope your life will be much improved going forward.
Dr. Dorf is going to get the biopsies as soon as they’re ready for her research.
I have ductile cancer, and as as aggressive as those tumors were, I’m going to say they’re probably ductile. my PSA, since chemotherapy has only gone up to 0.500 in the last six months, and look how big those tumors got. That can’t be normal.
I’m going to be asking if Nubeqa is actually working for me because how could those things have grown with both Lupron and Becca. Do you have any options I might suggest.
Nubeqa doesn't penetrate the blood brain barrier, so it may not be the best one for you. I'm sure she will go over histology and IHC with you, so that will guide the next therapy.
Dorff said she’s going to try to get me Plutvico starting in March.
I was scheduled to do provenge next week, but she said it would do nothing my for cancer.
She also said that NUBEQA probably isn’t doing anything, or it might be doing something a little bit, so I might as well keep picking it for the time being
Oh geez, at first I thought Great John had risen from the dead and made another food posting. Then I looked closer. Wow that’s a lot of stuff to lose. I sure wish you the best! Keep us posted!
I saw a great John’s post come into my feed after I posted this. That was very sad, getting the phone call from the oncologist that it was going to kill him nothing to be done.
Wow while that’s horrible ….great to be treated and and ok and to bring out a TA outburst.. dark humor at its finest.. well I wish you the best .. one piece does look like a chicken wing won’t be eating those anytime soon .. are you feeling ok after that procedure .. please take care !
I think I’m very lucky, I feel relatively OK. The surgeon says he got all of the damaged bone, the cancer in the brain, mass, and the cancer in the temporalis muscles. The only thing he didn’t get out was some cancer in the nerve that goes from the nerve of the of the ear to the mouth, he says if he were to try to strip that out by surgery it would fuck up my face, we’re going to have my radiation oncologist zap that nerve and that should get everything that we know is in my head out.
So sorry, I had a prostate cancer brain tumor removed above the ear as well. Fortunately, didn’t get into the muscle. It is unusual, but based on you and I, not impossible. I have been on erleada which my oncologist says penetrates the blood brain barrier. So far so good. I wish you luck.
Wow, the disease that just keeps on giving... and surprising. It's never ending.
I was playing poker in Vegas and there was this huge pot. The money went all in early and a guy hit a one card outer on the river. A 2% er. After being berated from the losing player for about an hour, the guy who got lucky said something like 'Yes, it was a one outter, but you know what? They happen.' Now thats understanding poker. So much in poker is a reflection of life.
You see, no matter how low the odds, they still happen to someone. I find its important not to reflect on the chances of something happening and it being 'unlucky'. That viewpoint portrays a sense of injustice - where really its all just probability.
Key caliber, that’s pretty wild. I’m sorry you went through that and I’m glad you told me about it.
You certainly got the worst of it than me. It was a little worse for me the day after the surgery, but that was only three days ago. Healing fast, but that weird bruising by the eye.
Are you kidding me ….. yayayaya yayay yayayayaya. You don’t look droopy. You look great and had 100X the work I had done. Next time I have my head adjusted, ima want your surgeon 😂😂😂.
I was dreading the worse for you, facially, , especially since you had so much more serious work done. Showed your picture to the hammer ( my wife ) ,” omg “ was her first thought , she couldn’t believe how good you look after all that work on your head ( compared to me ).
impressive. Hoping you heal up fast. Looking good.
That’s kinda breathtaking, if you look at those pieces of your head and this scar. Wow. Mind boggling. I can’t imagine how relieved you must feel. Inside the skull is seriously difficult stuff. The surgical work is impressive.
I hope you get lots more years out of all that. You earned it.
Just a heads up ( get it ? Cringe ) . Keep your eye on those stitches and , even if you are on a heavy course of antibiotics like I was , if it starts looking anything like this ….get back in fast and don’t depend upon your antibiotics to handle it … I’ll also post a pic of what happens if you don’t.
Then this might / could happen if you wait just for the antibiotics….
Here my surgical wound ( a rather large area inside my head ) is packed with special , expensive, silver impregnated, gauze wound dressing. I had to change it several times a day, myself, until the infection was killed by the additional antibiotics and silver action on the packing. Tharze a lot of that packing in that hole. It was so nasty , it made my wife / caregiver extremely ill every time I had to open the cavernous hole up and reapply the packing. Alls well that ends well, I guess.yayaya yayay.
I’ll take these down soon as I know you’ve seen them.
We have to go thru hell sometimes don’t we ? Mine looks awful but yours far more extensive and scary . Yayahahaha cancer is da chits . At first when it hits , feels like our world has collapsed ( and it has ) then we have stuff like this happen and we wish we could get back to regular croaking …. 😂😂😂 appreciation can come on many level and many ways.
Between the food jokes and the photos here, I'm about ready to barf, but I join with the other brothers in applauding you for getting through it and wishing you a full and fast recovery.
My father is also being treated at City of Hope. We were just told his prostate cancer has spread pretty much everywhere, including the skull and brain. Possibly eyes.
