Possible Aspirin Help in Reducing Cancer Mortality

I came across this article and am asking my MO for his opinion. I would be interested if anyone else has seen this or asked their MO about aspirin's possible use in their treatment.

They mention doses the range of 50-100 mg, if I recall. But they also mention even better results at about 300 mg. That's about one aspirin a day. (The standard Bayer dosage comes in a 325 mg tablet.) Read the article.

I started baby aspirin after a scan showed "severe atherosclerosis" which my one of my MOs said is probably just an exaggeration of the scan. I might up the dose to one full one and watch for stomach issues. I have a fairly tough stomach. I am taking naproxin for inflammation related to lesions so might as well switch. My primary care doctor had comforting words "don't worry, you will die of prostate cancer before your heart gives out"

Lol. Doctors say the darnedest things. (But sad.) I haven't started my treatment yet, so I might start taking one Bayer per day. My mets are in my nearby lymph node. They want to do the full-bore ADT, Radiation, and some kind of Chemo on me. I may not be able to tolerate aspirin after that.

I had the same to 3️⃣ lymph’s n did adt n radiation ☢️ for 4 months and now only do ivermectin cbd oil n supplements. Psa dropped from 7 down to 1.95 and now down to.95 after only using ivm n cbd. If I had to do it again would’ve omitted ADT altogether to start… good luck n def would not do chemo just yet!

Wow that’s messed up, fringing primary care Drs sometimes don’t have any sense of sensitivity, they need to learn some manners!

If that's most likely the case I prefer honesty over sugar coating. But it's usually quite the opposite since the PCa has a slow progression. But I'm not familiar with your age or stage of disease.

I'd start downing the bacon cheeseburgers. Heart Attack (especially in your sleep) is the way to go. Nice and quick.

Surfed it. Point seems to be at 25:00 -- aspirin repairs DNA errors that cause cancer.

Seems to be effective in minimal dose even alternated days...its effect is also on platelets (that should influence metastatis spreading) and it takes a long time for the effect of a single dose of aspiring to wear on in that respec

Imp4t, I also came across the article just this morning. The authors seem legit, but I will ask my MO for a second opinion. If it's true, reductions in the continued spread of PCa by such substantial percentages could be game-changing for people in our predicament. As innocuous as taking one Aspirin a day sounds, the concern I would have is that Aspirin acts as a blood thinner. It can prolong bleeding or delay clotting. However, you want to say it. After radiation treatment, the rectum is at risk of becoming irritated and subject to unpredictable bleeding on its own or from bowel activity. Utilizing a blood thinner such as Aspirin could exacerbate such a condition. That would not be good.

Yes you def want to cycle it accordingly n get off during any treatment. I would take it for a year n then get off a month or so but unfortunately was stung by a stingray once out surfing 🏄‍♂️ n couldn’t get the bleeding 🩸 to stop from the laceration of the barb. Fortunately urgent care was just a cpl blocks away n they hit it w lidocaine n epi and it coagulated immediately, sounds worse than it really was. Needless to say now I do about a month on of baby aspirin n then week off, seems to work good and I shuffle my feet 👣 a lot more to keep those rascal stingrays away…😊

I have read similar articles on aspirin as well as Celebrex. Both block the Cox 2 enzyme but aspirin blocks the Cox 1 as well. Cox 1 protects the gastric system. If you research Celebrex and curcumin for prostate cancer you will find that curcumin synergizes the Celebrex so that it is effective with lower doses. Without the curcumin to achieve the same results toxic doses of Celebrex were needed.

I did a crap load of reading on aspirin a year and a half ago prior to surgery and decided against it. But I can't remember why! All I left in my notes was:

Low Dose Aspirin Likely Has Benefit (I researched and as little as 81mg every 3 days, 40mg every other day, or 20mg every day all have similar effect on reducing TXA2 by close to 90%) Best to use chewable form and not on an empty stomach.

I'm guessing I opted out of it hoping my prostatectomy was curative and thereby avoiding any of the risks (some listed here: mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

But now 18 months post-surgery my PSA just hit 0.02 so statistically there's a probably more than a 75% chance I have just started the beginning of biochemical failure so I'm ordering the aspirin today as the name of the game is try to slow things down as much as possible as early as possible.
