Up at 3:30, walked 1.4 miles to the start, snuck up to the front so that I could have more time with no sun. Fireworks to start, it stayed fairly cloudy/cool until the last few miles. Walk/ran the 1st 13, then just walked the rest.
Had beers but no Spam🤔
Got malasada/banana and just sat for a bit, then got a Spam Musubi and a beer and ate at Waikiki. Another mile back to the Hotel, showered and napped.
Dinner with younger Bro and wife
Salt/Pepper pork, Mongolian Beef, ginger steamed fish and Chicken Chow mein
HORAY …. And didn’t even fall down with a heart attack or a stroke.. that’s what ima talk’in about. Congratulations buddy, first rate represent’in. That hard earned medal looks great on you. 👍👍👍
Shows what amazing physical condition you are in buddy. Athlete all the way. If I tried that ….well , yayyyaya. It’d be adios Muchachos. Shows the value of the exercise you get.
Well , it’s all about perspective I suppose. To us guys in a mobility cart or using a walker to get around, you nearly look like Superman. Being able to do a 27 mile marathon with stage 4b , at our ages is pretty athletic in my book.
what on earth … just the opposite buddy . You actually set the example for a lot of us. I know there are lots of cyclist's , other runners, gym rats etc. on the group …but you keep the rest of us engaged and anxious to get in there and “ get out there”. You share that with us and , speaking for myself, I love to hear about your exploits. I know ima not going to be able to do what you do, but I can get out and still do a lot. You inspire me to get out there.
Oh okay Bruddah, I totally took that you were calling me out for complaining that "Waaa I'm not an athlete" and didn't take into consideration that there are wheelchair bound members, and others who can barely walk due to SEs from meds who would be elated to be out doing any kind of walking.
That's some great QoLing and YUM for whatever seafood you buy, ya know I want Food Porn pix. And Yay for some Sun - tho I got quite a bit at home
Mahalo my Brother, marathons were my thang since my 2nd one at the Inaugural 1998 Rock n Roll San Diego - they had bands every mile and it was a 26 mile party. Then wanted to do 50 before I turned 50, and ya know how Type AAA Azn I am - I hit 50 at 49
LoL, Imma try and do 2/year. Big Bear Make A Wish and the HNL
Originally wanted to do all 50 states, but F in PCa hit. Yea, I still did them but the logistics of doing an East Coast one and then back home was an issue
My cousin is trying for all 50 states. He had his own PC scare recently and seems to have come through it without needing treatment so far. He's done 6 this year and is 70. Amazing how some people can keep going but your story still takes the cake.
Mahalo my Brother, legs still aching. Landed at LAX at 6am then drove up here😜
Food places - so many places 😂
I ate/got food at : Palace Saimin, Haili's Hawaiian, 7/11 (beers and Spam Musubi) Don Quijote's and Foodland for poke, U Choice Chinese, next to Don Quijotes. I usually hit up Zippys, L n Ls and Rainbow Drive Inn, but didn't this time. Nice Day Chinese restaurant
I did the LA Marathon in like 1987 and that was before power gels . I said No Mas, then as I said above - The 1998 RnR SD marathon was announced, that's what got me back out there
Mahalo my Brother! Thank you! Let us know when you're heading to the Make a Wish hike at Big Bear and I'm sure we all will be filling you with energy!!! You are pono, brother. Thanks for sharing---aloha nui!
Mahalo my Brother, long *ss day, I had a gent who was an Oncology Pharmacist read my back bib and he was doing Active Surveillance with a roller coaster of PSAs
We chatted a bit, having that bib really can get someone to come up and talk
Mahalo my Brother, I've been a PCa Awareness advocate since 02/2015 when I 1st wore a back bib exhorting men to get checked. I did 30 something marathons with either that kinda sign or one that honored men taken
