seems no one can help

Hey guys, sending loads of good vibes to you all .

don’t really come on much only at John’s big milestones . Seems we have hit another one .

went for his 3 rd chemo treatment couldn’t have it his creatinine levels were through the roof 164 so sent us to emergency room . They gave him a scan on his kidneys and pelvic region . They are saying they are slightly swollen maybe due to lymph nodes and he has lymphodeoma of the thigh and scrotum which has just happed seems when the leg drains it goes into his scrotum then has nowhere to go ?. They also said they cannot see where the blockage is .

Then they said where it was such a big jump what medications has he been taking ?. He is on 3 monthly zoladex monthly xgeva he takes the steroid they give him dexamethsone (I think it’s called) day before , day of and day after the chemo . They said it shouldn’t be the cause . They said they might put a stent in each kidney to leery the tubes open .?

john then explained that he has been taking quite a lot of ibuprofen to take the ache off in his scrotum seems quite a lot especially when working he has an active job on different sites building shows so walking around the sites is a must for him ? It seems he has been taking up to not always around 7 tablets a day each tablet 600mg . Well there eyes popped out of their heads and said that he cannot ibuprofen as this is probably the cause of the high creatinine levels and to absolutely stop taking them .

my issue is they are saying that they cannot do anything for his scrotum , which is crazy to me .

Dr also got his results back from the bio testing said at the moment cannot add to the systemic chemo which again I find crazy .

They have now made an appointment with the pain specialist who he has seen before and he gave him tramadol which didn’t work and paracetamol . The Drs at emergency gave him paracetamol and codine which doesn’t work either . It’s seems only the anti- inflammatory drugs work .

I just feel so sorry for him and feel a bit let down by the drs here to be honest .

I really need all the help I can get I’m so worried I feel like I’m having a silent breakdown inside . Has anyone had this or anything like this please help .

Thanks carol

They have to detoxify him from that ibuprofen overdose before they can add back anything. He was lucky it didn't shut down his liver and kidneys completely.

Before Hubby passed his genitals were swollen from edema. The one thing the ER doc suggested was to roll a small towel up - like a burrito - and tuck it between his legs underneath to elevate the scrotum. He said it needed to be kept higher to assist with the fluid drainage. It did help him. I hope you understand my description.

My husband dealt with that (the swelling) at diagnosis, and he was recommended compression underwear. It won’t solve the problem but it did make it significantly more comfortable for him.
