This last week I went to Cornwall, where I for the first time ever tried some painting outdoors. It was tough. It was the biggest painting I have ever attempted (A2); I could not use my usual range of media (just watercolour, gouache and oil pastel); the breeze was so strong that I had to lean on my painting board to keep it on my lap; and the wind blew the paint in unwanted directions. But enormous fun was had!

considering the adverse conditions Brent, it looks great!
This might be my favorite as I love the ocean! Thanks for hanging out in the great outdoors for this one. -Deb
Maybe the paint splashes were serendipitous. I like the softness of the strokes. It’s one of my more favorites of your art pieces. 🌟
Beautiful. I feel like I'm there, smelling the salt air...
Fab!
Thanks for sharing this painting and giving my spirit a lift
You captured the feel of the place as well as the look. Beautiful
Well done. I imagine very hard to do in those conditions. I know south westerly’s well!
Superb. Brilliant painting. I love Cornwall and you have captured it well.
I love that painting and the muted shades. The ocean is mesmerizing.
Good work. Enjoy
I love it! You really captured the wildness of the scene!
This is one of my favs!
You reminded me of my days watching "Doc Martin", very nice
Very much worth the effort!
How’re you doing on hospice, BrentW?
We are setting up the hospice at the moment, Blue. I have been away on a bucket list trip this last two weeks, so things got held up a little. I sent a form to them this morning giving them access to my medical records. A member of their assessment staff is going to ring me on Thursday to discuss.
How wonderful that you’re still checking things off the Bucket list! Keep on keeping on 👏🏽
add my voice to the chorus of others here that think this is among your best works, big guy. Love it. Keep ‘em coming.
👏👏👏
❤️❤️❤️
Hi. Did you get to Port Isaac where the Doc Martin series is filmed?
--K.
I am afraid we didn't, Kuanyin. I visited some old geology student friends not far from Redruth, but otherwise was exploring sites to paint between Newlyn and Land's End. And, of course, there was a trip to St. Michael's Mount, where my other half and I had an artery blocking afternoon tea. I am delighted to say that I managed to climb to the top of the Mount, which signals to me that I am not in too bad a condition. She indulged herself on another day with a Cornish Nasty and a criffin. She enjoyed both. I am gluten intolerant and could not find either made so that I could eat them. Perhaps that is for the best. So, we did have a Cornish experience and I brought back some reference photographs from which to paint.
Love it!
