Great experience at the NASCAR street race in Chicago. Neither of us are race fans although I have always thought of my self as a car guy.
We outbid the crowd at a Charity event to benefit children ( 3x face value so everybody won) for a VIP experience: unlimited food and drink plus access to a simulator that allowed me to drive the course virtually with realistic sound and road feel. I did not set any records but the kid running the equipment was a race driver and gave lots of tips to improve my lap times. These were the same simulators the drivers used to practice for the race as practice time was limited.
We had a private set up at turn 7 which was the slowest turn on the track on Michigan and Balbo, both a second story track view with a shaded living room below were at our disposal.
It was the only 1st gear turn on the racetrack so we got to feel the rumble of those cars accelerating out of the turn close up.
Plan B in full motion! Live to the max with what ever time I have left on the planet.

Awesome post - just look at that amazing couple! I had the good fortune to attend the Indycar Mid-Ohio last weekend with my son and son-in-law. The raw determination of those drivers to fling themselves through the many narrow twists and turns of the course at incredible speeds in open wheeled machines reminded me of my brothers here on HU.
We’re in this race until we aren’t! Keep on QoLing!

You have a way with words Seo, beautifully put, great analogy.
AWESOME ADVENTURE 4 sure 👍👍out in Chicago. So COOL you experienced the roar of those engines.
Our son invited me out for the InauguralLas Vegas Formula 1 Night Race in November. Flying me out from FL. on Thursday, then have Hotel stay with package for practice, qualifying + possible Legacy Car Race(hopefully will hear the 18,000rpm engine whine of old 😀) and race on Sunday, then we drive back to his home in NM for a few more days. He has a 944 Turbo that he modified for off-road and will enjoy some body jolting driving. Will enjoy the pain from off-road driving QoL lots more than the daily pain of living.
sounds like a great adventure, best of all with your son who is knowledgeable about the whole scene. Does not get much better than that, Enjoy! Please post some pics so we can enjoy vicariously.
