Hello Jolley Springs, We just learned my husband carries the CDK12 gene variant. He is still hormone sensitive and the cancer is responding well to his ADT + Darolutamide treatment. He has been on this treatment for 17 months. The side effects are terrible though. The news of the CDK12 hasn't fully sunk in yet. Everything I read online is too technical for me and I do not understand much of what I read. What I do understand are the words, "rare" and "aggressive". My husband was diagnosed 6/22 with widespread bone metasasis. We are thankful the treatments are holding the cancer at bay for now. But the not knowing what is next is very difficult. If you have anything to share that would help me understand this variant I would appreciate hearing from you. I am sorry I am not much help to you in return. I am very sorry you are further down the road in this journey.
My husband has cdk12. Right now he has been on Orgovyx and Zytiga for 2 years with success. His Dr has told him he can take a holiday for the meds or stay on. He's trying to decide which course of action he should take in that these 2 years of ADT have been the best since PSA started rising in '17.
