I am 56 yo s/p RARP with negative margins 1/2014, now with BCR, PSA .21. My urologist recommended psma scan. The scan was normal except for “calcium vs stents in the LAD”, I don’t have stents.
Have you all seen this? How commonly do these scans detect other diseases?
It's the CT part of the PSMA PET/CT that can have incidental findings like that. I had a pelvic CT that incidentally found a small lesion in one kidney that I now have to monitor. My friend incidentally found a tiny lung lesion on a PSMA PET/CT that turned out to be early stage lung cancer. Mostly CTs detect stuff that cause needless anxiety.
Your history is similar to mine. Prostatectomy 10/16 (3+4=7: T3a) with slow rising uPSA last four years. Prostate MRI with and without contrast found new enhancing nodule in prostate bed. Followed up with PSMA/PET CT when PSA was 0.1 which was normal (not unexpected with that low uPSA value) but had incidental finding of opacified L sphenoid sinus. Was having visual problems so it became an urgent situation as I only have vision in L eye. This led to surgery and removal of mycetoma. Recovered from that and doing well but uPSA is continuing to rise with shortening PSADT. Currently 0.245 PSA. Investigating options to pursue should I decide to do something. So far been given choice of SOC with SBRT and +/- ADT. I'm 82 and in what I consider excellent health, swimming 1/2 mile 3 times a week.
I had a similar finding. After sacrificing so much due to PC, I decided I didn't want to die from a heart attack. My normal doc sent me for a CT calcium scan. Now I'm on low dose Crestor. I have an appointment with a cardiologist at the end of next month.
was your calcium score elevated? Hopefully cardiologist won’t find anything
Yes. My score was elevated. However, my calcium was widely dispersed and not narrowing anything to the point of concern. That may change after my appointment with the cardiologist.
