Hospice Nurse Julie

I came across this wonderful YouTube channel by a hospice nurse who shares all aspects of her hospice knowledge and experience as a hospice nurse to help educate people about hospice. She has short videos on just about every topic regarding hospice care. I highly recommend her channel to anyone or anyone with loved ones who are thinking about hospice or just want to know more.

She is great. I have a lot of experience with hospice in the home and I really could have used hospice services much sooner than I got them with my guy.

There are efforts to find a way to allow transfusion dependent individuals to receive hospice care and still be able to get transfusions. The transfusions added to quality and comfort of life for my guy, giving him more energy stamina etc. It’s a financial issue, and will take legislation to correct.

Oddly enough, when my father went on hospice 20 years ago, he became ineligible and got kicked off hospice when he began nutritional support. That type of support is available to hospice patients now due to changes in legislation. So, I’ve dealt with this twice now.

My hope is that people with transfusion dependance will one day be eligible for hospice assuming other treatments aren’t being pursued. My guy still probably wouldn’t have gotten hospice earlier. He was a guns blazing kind of guy, but I know of many others who stop treatments but could benefit from services while still getting transfusions.

Off my soap box :) Thanks for sharing. Great info.

I'm so glad I found her channel. Starting to think about it now even though I'm still fighting When the options run out I'd like to be more prepared.
