radiation cystitis?

My husband has had blood in his urine recently. The urologist did a cystoscope late August after he had blood in his urine then. The bladder looked fine. He also checked his AUS device for erosion but it also was working properly (although he still leaks and has to wear pads or depends). The urologist said it was just radiation cystitis from radiation that was completed February 2020. He was fine for awhile but has begun passing blood more frequently. This week he has had it happen three or four days already. When I called the doctor’s office the nurse said as long as he is able to empty his bladder and not passing painful clots, he should be fine. Has anyone else experienced this? It’s quite concerning.

My husband has been dealing with radiation cystitis with hematuria (bleeding) starting slowly in 2018-19 from radiation treatment to his pelvis in 2016 for a recurrence of prostate cancer. He's had many cystoscopes, etc., dilation of urethra, etc. It seems the last thing to try is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), which he likely will start before too long.

If it clears up on its own after a few days, just leave it alone. Scar tissue breaks off and it bleeds a little (it looks worse than it is because blood colors urine a lot). It will happen sometimes. Instrumentation makes it worse because it breaks off scar tissue.

If they did a cystoscopy and the bladder looks OK most probable it is not radiation cystitis.
