Cauterizing bladder as radiation cystitis treatment

Hubs has been bleeding for two weeks now. He has had several bleeding episodes over the last 2 years but they have always resolved within 48 hours. We plan to start hyperbaric oxygen treatments in 3 weeks or so. In the interim hIs urologist wants to cauterize the bleeds in his bladder. Hubs has had a cystoscope and a pelvic CT scan with and without contrast. Has anyone had their bladder lining cauterized as a treatment for Radiation Cystitis? Was it successful in stopping the bleeding? Was it temporary? Please share your experiences. Thanks so much.

My urologist has told me he has PALLIATED a few patients with radiation cystitis with a low-power ball-tip cautery touching the most prominent bleeding points with satisfactory results results. He will be publishing his short and long term results when he has accumulated enough cases

I’ve had intermittent hematuria for 10 years. Usually resolves spontaneously in a day or so. I’ve been scoped twice, biopsied and cauterized. I’ve had two incidents where blood clots blocked the urethra and I was catheterized. I now am prepared to self catheterize and keep sterile catheters handy.
