I sent a message to my MO on increased hot flushes. He things a short course on Effexor might help. His advanced assistant will call on Monday to discuss. Has anyone here experience with this drug?

It helped reduce the severity for me. Once you start a long course of that drug, you can not just quit. You have to taper off over time.

I take 37.5 mg per day for the last 4 months. Almost immediately stopped hot flashes.

It’s an antidepressant, and it also stopped most of the moodiness ADT brought me.

I took it for a while but it didn't do much for the hot flashes so I stopped. Unfortunately I stopped cold turkey and boy did I get sick. Went back on and tapered off.

What kind of sick did it make you? At what rate did you taper off?

I had to taper off Prilosec and Claritin to avoid bad rebound symptoms.

I just felt like crap. Could hardly stand up. Not stomach or anything like that. I went back on it after a couple days of that and after a couple weeks tapered off. Don't remember the exact taper rate but it took a couple weeks.

Not what you're looking for?
