Has anyone taken relugolix pills in place of Lupron shots? After over two years on Lupron my oncologist is putting me on Relugolix. Any advice on this?(
Has anyone taken Relugolix pills? How... - Advanced Prostate...
Has anyone taken Relugolix pills? How did they affect you?
So far so good. The hot flashes were my main side effect..with Firmagon...and they seem less frequent and intense with Orgovyx. Also don't miss the 3-4 days of debilitating pain and swelling from the Firmagon shots. Happy I made the switch.
Thank you! It's encouraging to to see your positive experience!
are they insurer-covered? Medicare?
Start with your insurance if Advantage MEDICARE....see what they say. They are all over the place since it is new. Mine was $850...but got 2 months free from Myovant to start and a grant to pay the copay for 2021.
Been on Orgovyx a month, few hot flashes about the same as with firmagon, PSA has dropped to a lower number than it was on firmagon, a month ago it was less than 0.014, yesterday less than 0.003, T is 8. Fatigue and loss of strength are minor I'm still able to work out at the gym 3 hours a day 4 days a week with weights and Cardio. I have gained no body weight.
My Blue Cross PPO supplement covers the drug at a $50 per month co-pay.
Don’t seem to understand why there appears to be resistance to the vantas implant use . As u describe it , sounds advantageous
Makes sense
I'm not aware of Vantas implants. Is it an ADT alternative?
Thanks for the info!
The one advantage I can see, and it's entirely an opinion mind you, is that with pills, the amount of drug your body will have daily is more stabilized vs an injection of a specific amount of drug that is eventually wearing off. T levels were monitored during trials vs Lupron and there is better ramps with Relugolix, or quicker to castrate levels when starting the drug, and quicker reduction when stopped. This also bodes well for patients that may experience the worst of SE's as if they stop the therapy, they don't have to wait for the injection to wear off, sometimes months.
Otherwise, it does exactly the same thing.
I will be switching to it in a month or so as my Lupron shot wears off.
Best Regards
