Hi Randy, so well done! I like your video and blog. I feel a bit like you: DXed 11/23/2017 with PSA 2.222 and after ADT, chemo, RP and RT currently undetectable (under Lupron). Why I feel a bit like you? Because I‘m a marathon runner, too - since my youth - and I still run daily around 8 miles, approaching 68 years of age. I trust that running contributed strongly to my survival.
Let’s keep on running - it seems to be our life. Enjoy your day, warrior!
That's so awesome for you to be running 8 miles/day!!!
I have ADT induced anemia and low hemoglobin and am in no shape to do a marathon or even a 1/2. But, I am still so grateful to still be able to hit the pavement hiking to offset the side effects esp the osteopenia that I have.
IMHO, the marathon fitness helped to prevent neuropathy with the 37 chemos that I've had so far.
I have low anemia and low hemoglobin, too - just under the low limit. Wouldn’t run a marathon now, but the 8 miles are a must. What helps me: weight lifting to gain at least some muscles again and whole food plant based diet. Some mornings I’m very fatigued, but then I kick myself in my a.. and start running. 99 of 100 times I feel much better afterwards.
Indeed your Journey has been so very awesome and inspiring. Great lyrics and very applicable to you , my brother!. I am Sooo jealous you got to see Elton in concert, even though I've seen him 10 times, you are right at 75 years old, he still rocks. I hope to get there soon. You and Todd Seals are my PCa Heros. Keep it going my main man, and keep the faith!
In Hawaii it's called Spreading Aloha and it has kinda become my raison d'être with #stageivpca . Just lil ole me trying as much as I can to be a positive, optimistic presence.
I said in a previous post that I was quoted in an Athlinks Blog post that " I’ve always said that we are in a great big pond and I want to make ripples that extend out and affect people that I may never meet"
The screenshot is from Facebook. I received the msg late Monday after the Sunday concert. She also said that her Dad passed from PCa :-(. What a crazy, small world thing that happened💙
Yea, that Lady in Hawaii msging me was such an "out of the clear blue sky" thing. I sent that screenshot to Tiarra, my Elton companion, to make sure that lady was legit. Tiarra confirmed it. You never know when ripples could touch someone.
Now I have a meal with Tiarra's Ohana when I'm back home in Hawaii💙
In Tiarra's FB post about us, she said "a closed mouth don't get fed" meaning if you don't ask, it'll never happen. Life is still Beautiful. Be Kind y'all
YAAASSS, zip lining sounds like so much fun!!! I'm so glad that you're taking my lil posts to get out yourself to enjoy the Ohana and the Great Outdoors💙
just an FYI. Your Mahalo should be to Malecare, not to HU. Hu is just the platform we use. It is Malecare and our community that is supporting you here.
My wife recommended I run 4-8 miles a day for a year. I asked "Then what?" She replied "Turn around and come home". (Stolen from someone more clever than I)
In 2015 started ADT in 01/2025, then in 02/2015 started Taxotere per CHAARTED trial. MO gave me 9 more than the 6 protocol, as I was doing great, but PSA was still in double digits. Stage IV with a huge median lobe tumor on front of prostate, and L ureter lymph nodes were filled with PCa. That caused back pressure and now I have a L atrophied kidney GFR and Creatinine #s are fine tho.
Abiraterone then Xtandi failed in 2020 and had 6 more Taxotere sessions. A continued rise in PSA made the MO start Cabazitaxel in 11/2021. Just had #16 and have two more. Have a radiation onco appt on 10/28 to discuss MRI guided IMRT
I do Intermittent Fasting for 16 hrs from 9pm to 1pm the next day since the diagnosis and have fasted two days prior to each chemo
Hi, I forgot to mention that during my fast, I sip homemade veggie broth with tomato paste (lycopene), garlic, ginger, cabbage (Cruciferous), and curry powder(Turmeric).
When I break Fast I eat whole grains, lean protein, a rainbow of colors of fruits/veggies, mostly plant based.
Yes, it is wonderful to joke. I'm a huge goofball with my dental patients: Joking, and singing random songs whilst I work. I still haven't gotten my chairside assistant to sing with me yet. But, I have one of my two dental hygienists singing along with me when I'm in her room to do an exam🤣
I get so jazzed when a patient joins in!
I had an older, nervous patient in the chair. I asked if she wanted hubby in the room also. I brought him in and said to take her hand. Then crazy ol me starting to sing:
"Take my hand, take my whole life too" and the Hubby starts singing Elvis with me. Needless to say, the lady calmed down quite a bit
a Now where were you when I needed two implants . The singing dentist is the one I need . Lol I'd be sending everyone to you saying he's good and he sings , so eat al the candy you want
my dad is not doing well but he had Mets through out body seven years ago . Google stats are garbage 🗑️. I tg fir the men who taught me that upon my dad's dx
Thank you for sharing the enthusiasm that everybody different yours is exceptionally above that May your suppression be forever behind you and never ending and most of all future brightness before rt in your grasp
