what is the difference in Foundation One testing and Gradient Liquid Biopsy?
genetic testing: what is the difference... - Advanced Prostate...
genetic testing
After my prostate was removed 4+ years ago, I had the Foundation Medicine tissue biopsy. I also recently had the Guardant 360CDx liquid biopsy to possibly identify effective treatment options. I was disappointed with the Guardant report as it was no where as comprehensive as Foundation, which identified mutations that Guardant didn't cover. The one benefit from Guardant was that it did identify my BRCA2 mutation as reversion, no longer treatable with a PARP inhibitor. I had hoped I could re-challenge Olaparib, which kept my PSA undetectable for close to 2 years.
I'm confused about the BRCA2 reversion. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? My husband has BRCA2 mutation. My daughter got tested, and luckily she did not inherit the mutated gene.
Its a bad thing if you are hoping to target it with PARP. Because it closes one option for treatment.
Ahhhh. OK. Thanks for the answer. Hopefully that does not happen to my husband. He's doing the Amplitude study right now. (Niraparib (or placebo), Zytiga/Prednisone) and Zoladex shot every 3 months. So far, so good (except for high blood pressure that comes and goes, hot flashes which are tolerable, and the usual brain fog)
