COLOR GENETIC TESTING

Hi all,

I've seen a few posts about taking the COLOR test which tests 30 genes for any mutation. The cost is $249, but there is a clinical test going on called PROMISE and they cover the cost of the COLOR gene test.

clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show...

I participated in the study and just got my results back. The following 30 genes were analyzed for genetic mutations : APC, ATM, BAP1, BARD1, BMPR1A, BRCA1, BRCA2, BRIP1, CDH1, CDK4, CDKN2A (p14ARF), CDKN2A (p16INK4a), CHEK2, EPCAM, GREM1, MITF, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, MUTYH, NBN, PALB2, PMS2, POLD1, POLE, PTEN, RAD51C, RAD51D, SMAD4, STK11, and TP53. My results showed of the 30 genes tested no genetic mutations were identified.

Keep positive and live each day to its fullest.

The Color test if germline genetic study (your genes), it does not study the mutations of the cancer which could be completely different than in your genome. Perhaps they could get a direct biopsy of one of the mets or a liquid biopsy to study the genome of the cancer (somatic genome).

They offered it free back in the fall so I did it then. No mutations.

I had it done back on my initial diagnosis (Nov 2018), and the report came back with no mutations. I've since received updates from them that included new factors they test for and reported no mutations. I have not received a comprehensive list of what they tested for (and found no mutations..) I'm guessing that's part of the study?

FWIW - I paid nothing for the test. I may have been submitted as part of a study since I was being treated at Columbia/Presbyterian in NYC and there are very few studies they aren't part of. I was (and am) covered by standard Medicare (Part B and a part D drug plan) and I wasn't charged for the testing.

Those can get mutated by ADT to W40L30

As long as it doesn’t mutate to W44L30! 🤪

I also tried to participate in the Promise study and my results came back negative.....no genetic mutations. I guess these mutations must be pretty rare. Sucks that I can't even qualify for a study because I just have run-of-the-mill prostate cancer. 😆 Must be hereditary, though, because my brother and I both have it.

The promise study tests only 30 genes but if you get the MO to orger next gen sequencing BRACA1/2 Analysis with CutomNext-Cancer it covers 92 genes now. I had this done 2 years ago and it covers 70 genes. They keep adding genes to the list.I also did the Promise test and it showed no mutations. You should also get your tumor tested for the MMR genes. Especially if hereditary.
