My dad (52 y/o, stage 4 with mets all over) needs a new urologist oncologist ASAP! Does anyone have any connections or reputable doctors you could recommend? He lives outside of Charlotte, NC in Lancaster/Fort Mill area of South Carolina. Thanks for your help!

Try Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC in Charleston SC. I did a self referral and get in to see a great Doctor there, however, he is retiring at the end of the year but there’s some great Doctors there.
sure! He was diagnosed November of last year. He’s on zometa and Lupron. Thanks for your help!
If he is able to get to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, they do a full day multi specialty consult and can provide a treatment path for him, whether he gets treatment at Hopkins or not. They are wonderful and we ended up doing treatment with them, even though we live further away. They also have an office in DC, so that was closer for us for treatment for my husband.
thanks for your help! We have family in DC!
That multi specialty clinic was a total game changer for my husband. He was diagnosed G9 in September 2019 and went in November 2019 and has received excellent care and treatment. They are following and involved in the latest cutting edge research and it shows in my husband’s results. He was 54 at diagnosis.
Happy to answer any questions. My husband specifically sees Dr. Markowski and they are also at Sibley Hospital in DC….but the clinic is in Baltimore.
My highest recommendation goes to Dr. Samuel Adediran at Gibbs Cancer Center in Spartanburg, SC.
He has been my oncologist since diagnosis in November 2021. He is up to date with latest research and takes all the time you want to answer concerns and share decisions.
awesome! He’s not too far from us. Thank you!
Gibbs Cancer Center is ranked toward the top regionally and in the state. Dr. Adediran is fairly new and in his early 30's (came from Virginia I think.)
I believe he is Nigerian. He consults on a regular basis with local colleagues and national experts. I couldn't be more happy with him and his staff.
I see Claud Grigg at Atrium Cancer center in Charlotte. He did a fellowship with Charles Drake at Columbia Presbyterian which puts him n a top rank. His patient list is almost exclusively castrate resistant patients though I am not. (I seek my care from someone who knows where I will be and not only where I am). Except for the Spartanburg recommendation I am familiar with the others mentioned and support those as well.
A key for me that I have learned is to find the very best person to care for me regardless of how much money it costs or how far it is to achieve. I am fortunate to have such means of time and fortune. I also see Charles Drake as my managing oncologist.
Sorry to hear about you Dad. I am in early 50s...seeing MO at Duke Cancer Institute - Dr. Bill Berry. He is a prostate cancer survivor himself. He and his staff are wonderful. He will be an objective advisor, and then refer you to Duke colleagues depending on your Dad's best path. His office is in Cary, NC. 216 Ashville Ave., Suite 20, Cary, NC 27518. Phone number 919-854-6900. Fax number if you will be sending medical records is 919-854.6991. For scheduling, contact Debby Robertson - deborah.robertson@duke.edu. Your Dad will receive wonderful care at Duke.
thanks for the info! His PSA is currently .1 but his current doctor retired and he was set up with another doctor that we aren’t fond of for many reasons (lacks experience, etc). Thanks again and will definitely hang onto this info!
I am 78, but have a very similar diagnosis and began treatment at same time as your dad. My scans have showed no progression and PSA has been 0.04 for past six months. I have been on Lupron infusions every three months, and four Zytiga pills with Prednisone every day.
Minimal side effects, but some pain in pelvis and weakness.
that is sooooo encouraging to hear!! Every 3 months we are so nervous!!
