Took my first round of chemo and it tanked my blood counts. Platelets 48; Rd. Below 3,and white cell 25% below norm Even with neulasta. Waiting to see if things recover Do not know where we go from here.

Are you receiving the 3 drugs at the same time, docetaxel, carboplatin and paclitaxel?

The bloods usually go down for a week. How long after chemo did you take the test? My husband was being given 5 injections after each chemo and they tested only after a couple of weeks to see if bloods are normal again.

I think the second drug you are taking is Carboplatin. How many days after infusion did you take the test?

For example with blood counts, the nadir for Docetaxel is around 7 days. Of course your numbers are out of range, but that's expected. This is especially true if you're at or near the nadir. I don't think your numbers are that low if they are nadirs, but ask your doctor.

"Your question about where to go from here?" is to wait and see what your recovery numbers look like at the end of your cycle. That determines if you can continue chemotherapy.

This is all based on my knowledge and I'm not a doctor so discuss with yours.

Thanks for the response. They are going to resume chemo at half strength until my platelets gets better balanced
