What are the consequences of discontinuing a Lupron regimen? Can the body ever restore its previous levels of testosterone?

Lupron regimen, what happens if you stop!
I’ve had two vacations from Lupron. While I don’t know what my pre-Lupron T level was, both times it came back well into the normal range.
It depends on the duration of the Lupron therapy. Usually it will recover, but not to the level before Lupron.
Before 18 months of Lupron, my T was 1100, three months after stopping, T recovered to 700 and leveled off there. So it recovered to about 2/3 of what it was.
and I believe "norm" range is approx 300-900...wow , you were a powerhouse!!
Guess I’m the exception to the rule. 6 month vacation and my T went from 17.76 to 15.68. I was surprised and will be discussing this with my MO September 2.
It depends what you are taking Lupron for. There's nothing in your profile that explains your situation.
Without a bio I tried to get an idea thru your posts. Is he still on Zytiga?
Also I am only assuming since not much info from you to go on but I believe your husbands diagnosis requires lifetime of Lupron to avoid cancer progression.
Need more info. Return of testosterone depends on age, fitness, strength and overall health, duration the Lupron is given and T level pre-Lupron.
Mine recovered completely to over 700 after 18 months on it, but that is not typical.
One more data point. I'm on a Lupron vacation now after taking it for 4 years, during which my T was typically 10-20. My last Lupron shot was a year ago, and my T finally started to come back 3 or 4 months ago. Now at 375 and rising.
I went off firmagon for a while took 3 months before t started to return 6 months I was back to normal don't know what t was before ADT but in normal range now
Just one question trinity as my t returned my PSA rose to 13 then dropped suddenly to 4 not long after went back on adt now has sat at 1.8 to 2.54 different every monthly blood test did you notice this I also still have my prostrate and have never had chemo or radiation 5 years with stage 4 this Xmas
You need to have a really really good reason to want to stop. Testosterone rises, so do the chances for cancer.
Because of the heterogeneity of this disease and its travelers, hard to say with any specificity, that and one's clinical history may be useful in helping the group answer along with the reasoning behind the decision, both yours and your medical team's.
It is possible that one's testosterone will return to "normal" levels after stopping Lupron. For some men it returns, others it does not, many factors go into that How long that takes can vary. In my case, three to six months.
If you decide to stop Lupron then have a plan to actively monitor your PCA, labs for PSA, decision points about when you would image, with what and what clinical data constitutes a decision to go back on treatment.
As to the consequences, well the one that may be most "dangerous" is the PCa now starts to advance.
Mine was 700 and bounced back to 250
My T was over 700 before my 13 month ordeal of Eligard, which dropped it to 10. Four months after the last shot should have expired my T was back to 570. I got my family doctor to give me a prescription for letrozole (2.5 mg) that I take once a week, but I don't know if it is boosting my T or not.
Don't know what my T was pre-Lupron but got to 7, during 2.5 yrs. Then after being off for 1.5 yrs. it rose to only 330. Unfortunately, the PCa came back. Wish I had stayed on it. SE's were minimal, due to exercising at least 5 days/wk. & excellent diet prescribed by my own Dietitian (wife).
Back on it with Apalutamide (Erleada) & Xgeva. T of 12 after 4 months. As we age we will have lower T, anyway. I am 74.
