Sheets

OK guys and gals, Thad complains that his sheets stick to him and make it hard to move around on the bed. I looked up silk sheets on Amazon and the prices range from about $40 to $400. So what gives🤷‍♀️. Which ones do you like?

Try percale sheets. We only use percale.

If he is sticking due to sweat silk is probably not the answer. The wet strength of silk is much lower than the dry strength and you could be making very expensive rags. Linen or some of the more exotic natural fibers like bamboo and eucalyptus might provide better wicking of moisture than cotton. Wool would also e very good but no idea if anyone makes wool sheets and if so they would not be cheap. I have some really fine merino wool jersey fabric and think that would make a great sheet. yes they do make them here is a ink i haven't checked prices yet, i might want them.sonomawoolcompany.com/blogs...

looks like the wool bedding is not actually wool on the top just the inner parts. i am going to look for wool jersey and try making my own :)

Not a fan of silk or satin. We have been using bamboo, like it a lot

Bamboo is looking like a winner.

we have bamboo (as well as just about everything else, my husband is a major bedding aficionado) i hate flannel and regular cotton. some of the really exotic stuff is beyond my ability to understand. nothing gets rid of hot flashes but not sticking might be a real advantage. If I feel really rich I might buy some wool jersey, it will probably cost $250 for one sheet? If anyone knows where to get merino jersey for less than $50 a yard, let me know.

My husband found some sheets on Amazon that are cheap and supposedly wicking. He likes them. They shrunk so don’t quite cover our deep mattress but they stay on.

We keep a ceiling fan going.

I was having the same problem with sheets. Bamboo seems to work better for me.

I only buy 100% cotton percale sheets. I also prefer a lower thread count. If the thread count is too high the sheets are too heavy. These are the ones that I bought and they are lightweight, cool and don't stick. brooklinen.com/products/cla...

Ceiling fan beats all for hot flashes.

Amazon micro-fiber worked well for me in that they are very smooth and cool quickly when I throw the covers off in a hot flash (fewer and fewer as I get farther away from ADT). I like the feel of them and they are relatively inexpensive.

I’m on Xtandi Lupron and sticky nighttime body is reality for me. When I even wear black shirts, I seem to sweat ( ? ) , astonishingly, I exude white sweat that outlines my spine , and chest back bones only, like someone drew a skeleton on there. Anyway, sticking to my bed sheets is a “ thing “ for me. My remedy is sleeping under a ceiling fan , on one side and when I want to move around on the bed or get up, I turn to the opposite side and the ceiling fan quickly dries up the dampness and I’m no longer stuck to the bed. I’m free to assume a different sleeping position or get up more easily. I have flannel waterbed sheets.

I used to sleep on a towel, and after the nightly hot flash sweating session at 3am, I took the towel off the bed, and go back to sleep on dry sheets. I was sweating like crazy the first six months on Lupron/Zytiga combo.

Growing up in Southeast Texas, the Land of Humidity, without air conditioning , then ADT driven hot flashes commencing in 2004.and, having a strong preference for 100% cotton bed linen and 100% cotton clothing for its breathability, I have learned something about “damp hot sticky sheets”....... How often do you wash and change your sheets?

Given the number of dead skin cells shed, body oils left , dirt, and sweat left behind, you might think about changing your bed linen more often. When night sweats were raging during the summer months, every other day was necessary to get out of the sticky sheets mode coupled with air circulation,,,,,,, with this said, the average person changes their bed linen once a week and wonder why the linens in a hotel feel so much better,

Almost all side effects are mitigated through medication or changing one’s habits. Not going to enter the cotton, bamboo, silk, polyester, poly cotton blend debate. I wish you the best.

Well duh. I’m from the NW and not used to either humidity or frequent night sweats. So good info- probably could change them more often than in the past. 🤦‍♀️

Let me be a heretic here, maybe you don't need fancy sheets. Has Thad considered not sleeping in a bed with sheets? Humans did a lot of sleeping (many still do) in positions, beds, and costumes that are very different from what the merchants of Euro-American culture dictate. That combination of standard sized beds, box springs & mattress, plus pajamas, percale sheets and blankets is only a little over 100 years old. People sleep on the bare earth, bear rugs, straw mats, beanbag chairs, hammocks, waterbeds and more. For me, the choices for comfortable sleeping has changed more than a few times in my 82+ years. There have been times when I covered my reclining chair with a big beach towel, climbed aboard naked, and threw a very light fleece blanket over all. That got me some of my best nights of sleep in recent years. Maybe Thad should try that. 😱 😀 Seriously, just encourage Thad to throw away all the "usual" concepts, and starting with naked just add what makes him (not you) most comfortable.

I am using big cotton towel for pillow and sometimes as a sheet, when having strong hot flashes. Also small towels for drying face and head, plus hand fan. Also i made shirt from the towel, wearing it bellow regular shirts and pyjamas, during day and night, when hot flashes are strong and frequent.
