I found a tick on my ear. Doctor prescribed 100 doxycycline twice a day for 10 days.
Are there men on his forum taking doxycycline as alternative treatment for there Pca?
If so why? Thanks

Doxycycline is one of the medications being prescribed off label by the COC(Care Oncology Clinic). It is proposed to have anti-tumor activity based on it's ability to inhibit MMP thus reducing the cancer cells ability to survive. In your case the doctor is using it to treat the possibility of Lyme disease, judging on your exposure to a tick. It works like an antibiotic to treat rickettsial infections.
I think your doc over prescribed. The standard treatment for a tic bite is 200 mg one time. Google it
Here’s a blurb from the CDC website:
In areas that are highly endemic for Lyme disease, a single prophylactic dose of doxycycline (200 mg for adults or 4.4 mg/kg for children of any age weighing less than 45 kg) may be used to reduce the risk of acquiring Lyme disease after the bite of a high risk tick bite.
As per Kentucky. I take Doxycycline one month on one month off as part of the Care Oncology Clinic (COC) protocol. It appears safe. To be honest, no idea if it works for Advanced Prostate Cancer and neither do COC but just part of my hopeful scattergun approach. Good luck.
What is the dosage . Thanks
Hi. 100mg capsules of Doxycycline for 4 weeks, then 4 weeks of Mebendazole 100mg tablets for weeks. Then back on the Doxycycline for weeks. With Care Oncology Clinic you also stay on both Metformin 500mg X2 a day continuously and Atorvastatin 40mg x1 a day continuously. I hope that this helps.
Enjoy your time away

Which version? SYIS? m.youtube.com/watch?v=LMUTG...
What does that do to your gut bacteria?
Try 18.9 cents in Kansas. It stayed that way for many years back then. Less tax.
I have been taking doxycycline 50 mg/day for 22 years. No breaks, continuous use. No periodontal disease.
Rest up Nal!
I posted this when Nalakrats was still young (he still looks young):

I remember when you originally posted this. Did you also implement taking doxy regularly ? Does it seem to you it’s being more accepted as a Pca strategy?
My alt-doc was happy to write the script - he uses the approach in some patients with chronic disease (not cancer.) He felt that Minocycline was the best of the "cyclines".
I was on it for 4? years. I took a vacation from it when I became interested in akkermansia.
I doubt that many with PCa consider it.
I wonder how many members from 5+ years are still with us? 16,000 members, but we probably approached steady state a while back.
Best, -Patrick
FYI - I had some success in using butyrate in struggling with radiation proctitis. Would be great to find a probiotic combination that works similarly. thanks!
For you fair skinned folks, beware of the sun sensitivity associated with doxy. I just got a terrible rash on some sun exposed areas, and the dermatologist suggested I stop doxy during the summer.
So many memories.
Enjoy the fishing. Best wishes in relocating.

God bless you Nal! We don’t regret the love life that we had in our past life. I had no complaints prior to pc ..
This is an older topic but it caught my attention. So I did a search and found this statement. "Both drugs contain the ingredient doxycycline but have a very slightly different chemical makeup in terms of salt forms of the drug. According to the Pfizer prescribing information, doxycycline hyclate is water-soluble, while doxycycline monohydrate is only very slightly water-soluble."
# Not sure how critical this is.
