At the start of my journey and treatment plan which includes Doxycycline & Vitamin C I had stated that I am well enough to perform my daily routine.
I had my Cystoscopy on 28 October 17.

Diagnosed Advanced PCa Stage 4 D2
6-12 Nov 17 Treatment 5 g sodium bicarbonate/ honey
13-30 Nov 17 Treatment fair amount of carrot/ celery blended superfood and lots of salad mainly cucumber and tomatoes.

My journey has been rather smooth until I am constipated and has no bowel for 2 days ( 14 & 15 December).
During the 3-4 days period I had laxatives, no restrictions on food and also consumed a full 850 g canned peaches in syrupy which is really unhealthy.
18 Dec 17 had a CT scan.
After CT scan had aches in my calf muscle and left ureter region.
With 2 Panamax 500 mg during the night.
This morning played and walked 9 holes golf without further aches.
The CT Scan reveals a mild to moderate hydronephrosis and hydroureter which was not present on the previous CT.
I have said I will let my body do the talking. Since this is the first pain that I have encounter after surgery hence I decided to suspend the Doxycycline & Vitamin C for 7 days. I need to reset.
So the next 7 days I will use sodium bicarbonate/ honey
With light diet.

Roland - if I read all this correctly your PSA is still going up. What is your plan - at what point do you try some more conventional medical intervention? I sincerely hope that your treatment works for you.
Roland - we all wish you well. I agree with Hazard’s comments - really hope you consider conventional treatment. No one wants to go on ADT - but it works and helps us stay alive. And there are many promising treatments - Zytiga with ADT, for example. With your drive to exercise and stay fit, you would do very well dealing with any side effects.
Hazard and James. You are playing a very dangerous game, but life is about choices. In the final analysis, you as the patient, are in control.
Your PCa can be controlled with conventional treatments and you could have many years ahead of you.
If you let your cancer get too advanced with multiple mets, it will be much more difficult to rein it in and treatments could become much more aggressive with resulting multiple side effects.

Roland, my concern for you tallies with that of Hazard. Waiting until your body talks to you can be sometimes detrimental for you and self defeating when the cancer takes the upper hand whilst growing silently. I appreciate, whatever, you have taken time and trouble to explain every detail of your personal approach of treatment in a genuine hope of sharing the information with us. My Blessings for you to achieve success in one way or the other towards relief and recovery!
Currently I am in hospital post cystoscopy to insert right ureteric stent. Due to my misadventure couple of days back I had hydronephrosis and hydroureter and a swelling kidney from too much fluid intake. I was on a wait list in my hospital and can only be operated on depending on priority and life threatening needs,
My cystoscopy was performed 2 pm Sydney time with minimal bleeding compared with mine on the operation 28 October 17.
I am trying to eat and drink post surgery and will be discharged tomorrow.
I will then continue my self treatment.
Currently I only needed a couple of panadol for pain relief.
Last night I did not need any as I did not had pain.
Will continue to update you.
To add while I was about to commence my operation I had the anestheticist privately commenting and supporting and encouraged me to continue on my treatment.
I was really amazed. He also added that l was really looking alright for a PCa Stage 4 patient.

Roland, metaphorically I look at your Stage 4 PCa as a dragon and you as a brave little boy! How you are going to tame the beast, i wouldn't know exactly. Your experimentation is very personal and may well be justified too in view of your determination and will power especially when there is no guarantee of efficacy even with the conventional treatment protocols against Stage 4 PCa, other than buying time without much significant survival benefits. Since you are not going to change your mind, I hope the old adage "Success favours the determined" should support you all the way.

It is 10:10 pm here in Sydney. I am still in the hospital. I had like I said minor bleeding. I just completed 1000 ml 9% saline drip 5:30-9:30 pm at rate 80? )
No more drips from now. My catheter which is still attached is draining well. I had light sandwich earlier and sipping water and 2 cups black coffee. As I understand the catheter will be removed at 6 am ( fingers cross ) and go home after. My Urologist ( surgeon ) Dr Jonathan Kam Resident Urologist Kieran Beattie and Visitor Advisor Professor Richard Ferguson my current Sydney Urologist were present during my left stent operation.
Very much thanks to them for giving me a second chance as they are fixated same general opinion to go conventional. At one stage they were planning not to go ahead to operate on me.

I am feeling much better post Cystoscopy and new left ureteric stent.
I am still pain free and can eat. Did have a heavy meal on 23 Dec and yesterday afternoon had afternoon tea with cakes and crispy cream dough nuts. 2 hours ago had Christmas lunch with Asian spring rolls, salad, prawn and leg ham.
I think it is ok to indulge a little but I will definitely stay away from 850 g canned peaches and syrup which caused me this new tumour attacked.
Roland, I'm extremely concerned for you, along the same lines as Hazard & others. Alternative medicine approaches, including diet, are not a solution to prostate cancer with a high Gleason & PSA increases like yours. What they are is something to use in support of conventional medicine. That is why they are also called complementary medicine.
Perhaps you would like to get a 2nd opinion at a National Comprehensive Cancer Center. Oh, wait--you're in Australia, right? Well, whatever similar center you have with great expertise in prostate cancer. Or find out what teaching hospital or university nearest to you has a urological oncology specialist.
Otherwise, I would urge you to consult both a urologist & an oncologist in your area who have extensive experience with PCa.
By accepting conventional treatments & using complementary medicine approaches in support, I am alive a decade after some doctors thought I would die. And a raft of new treatments have been FDA-approved,, & I am benefiting greatly from them in terms of survival.
I very much appreciate your reluctance to submit yourself to conventional treatments & their side effects. I stalled until my PSA was much higher than yours. But unfortunately, we have to give some things up if we want to stay alive. And what we learn is that there is so much left to enjoy even if we have to sacrifice some things that are very important to us.

Thanks for your input. If I got it correct you are 76 now. I gathered that your PSA in 2016 crept back up to 31.
I know I am only 2 months into my battle.
I did feed on a 850 g canned peaches and syrup around 14/15 Dec and I think my left kidney hydronephrosis is caused by that. Lucky I got over my left ureteric stent Cystoscopy.
Currently I am working hard to manage my cancer and hopes to improve my result as PSA etc.
Obviously I still eat and feed quite liberally and I was pain and extreme fatigue free for most of my time since my first diagnosis in 28 October 17.
Today I am feeling better.
Over the last 2-3 days I was a little weak, some aches in my spine and leg calf.
Normally this is associated with worsening cancer invasions. But I am treating and killing these cancers wherever they may be. How successful is the final answer as I am still yet to work out.
But my latest PSA on 27.12.17 is 23.71 very close to my operation on 22.12.17.
I might need to wait a little longer to conduct other checks.
This year, Zytiga failed after almost 3 years & my PSA went up. Then I had the 3 Provenge treatments, which will hopefully extend my life, but they didn't affect my PSA, which is true for 90% of patients. So I'm on Xtandi now, with a PSA of 136. However, the more important thing is whether there is any progression, & there isn't! So my MO says I'm clear to travel with my wife to Thailand & Vietnam. That does us a world of good: the weather, food, people, relaxation, beautiful things to see, etc. I will monitor my PSA over there. BTW, even though they use Asian complementary medicine over there, they use it in support of Western medicine.
I was worried about my diet when I was diagnosed with cancer,I talked with the dietary people at the hospital, they said eat anything I can to keep my weight up. That the cancer will make its own sugar out of anything I eat, so far that is working for me
