Scan resuts etc.

After making me wait a week I finally got the results of a CT scan and bone scan. I think I mentioned that I had had a monor accident (falling about a foot into a shelf at chest height) and had really horrible pain that would not go away. Went to ER and the ER doctor interpreted the CT scan as metastatic cancer in bones which I knew was there. The radiologist said absolutely nothing about a fracture. I was wondering how it could be so painful when I coughed if it was not broken but trusted their opinion. The latest CT and bone scan both mention a jagged pathologic fracture and new rather large lesions in my sternum, both bones.

Not that anything could be done for a sternal fracture but I am really pissed off at the mis-diagnosis. At least I would have know why I was in such intense pain would also have known about the radiologic progression.

My PSA has increased over three tests and the last was a doubling time of 2 months. Will have another in a month. I believe and it has been "confirmed" by others that I am now castrate resistant. I have an appointment with my oncologist in a couple of weeks who will hopefully sort this out.

I am trying to look at the images myself to get an idea of what is going on but both the horrible viewer on the CD from the hospital and the "Stratovan Pro" viewer that I downloaded do not show anything to me. Stratovan is 3d but all I can see is s surface with very little detail. Maybe I just can't figure out how to use it. I know that doctors must have something better.

Does anyone know of a better Dicmon viewer that does not cost a fortune or require a subscription. It seems that I need to do my own scan diagnosis based on the BS from the ER scan.

Also what can I expect now that PSA is doubling rapidly and I have radiographic progression.

A little side note. When I got back home from the bone scan I scanned myself with my Geiger counter soon after and for the next couple of days. There was an obvious difference between my sternum and everywhere else. There were some hot spots where old lesions are but the sternum pinned the needle.

Same here.

What? You’ve got a Geiger counter at home? Wow! First off, no more falling ,ok? I became accident prone on Lupron .. we must be careful.. Your doctor was just too busy or distracted to even tell you that you had a fracture? Two nuke scans ago the mo told me that most all of my joints are lit -up , djd ,then he said I had a non displaced rib fracture ,I didn’t know it , just another random pain . I thought prolia helped prevent fractures? In reality who knows what ? I’m sorry about this Psa uptick . My hope is that you will push it back down again ! This sob disease …

I had a bone density scan a little while ago and bone density is fine. The fracture with a minor impact was due to the bone lesion, as far as I understand the report. It was called a pathological fracture. I used to buy surplus from UC Berkley and although the labels said everything was cleared for toxins pathogens and radiation I wanted to check myself. Never got anything hot. It is useful now. If I get on the LU 177 trial I am hoping for and they put me on the SOC arm I will know and will high tail it out of there. Funny story: I took the Geiger into the treatment room when I had IMRT. I wanted to see if there was scattered radiation. I forgot to turn the alarm off and it screamed the whole time of the treatment. They suggested that I leave it at home the next time.

they have an intercom to be able to hear the patient if they are screaming. they had to turn it off :) all went well otherwise.

Good bone density is a great plus for you ! I did 8 weeks x five per wk of imrt . They asked me early on what type of music ? . I said rock . On my last day they played “ the final countdown ,and “ stairway to heaven” … I was thinking what kind of hope did they have for me playing those ? It was like they were saying goodbye sucker , I thought . After five years clear I went back to ask them about that ? They said “ oh yah , we don’t do that anymore”! I told them it kinda bummed me out . I also thanked them again . But if I had listened to my original dismal prognosis I’d be long gone by now as suggested . The Doctors practice medicine on us . We must do more than only what that say to do ! Imho

Times I have thought a few of my favorite songs going back 40 years turned out to be doomed prophecies of my own life lol. Not true of course. Just the wandering of my mind.
