In a couple weeks I will receive my 6th and final LU-177 treatment as part of the Vision trial.

Thus far I have been very happy with the results.

Does anyone have any experience or understanding

on how long it I can hope/expect the results to last?

Good question I am receiving my first infusion this afternoon. Good luck to you.

How many infusions does one get, or is it different for each person. How long ? Painful? Are the side effects as bad as with chemo?

6 infusions about every 6 weeks. It took about an hour and a half to complete the entire protocol once the medicine was in the machine. I did not have any noticeable side effects I am having fatigue but I think that is from the Xtandi. Much easier than Chemo.

As far as I heard it is usually one year. Try if ADT works again. Most of the resistant cells may be destroyed.

Is it ONE YEAR after the completion of all infusions ??

This is just an observation by doctors treating with Lu177, its an average. I am not aware of a study that reports this. The period starts after the last infusion. If ADT, Zytiga or Xtandi still work for you, the period will be longer.

Thank you, GP24, much obliged. Cheers !!

Pinejogave,

I finished my 6th LU177 in early May. During the trial I hit a low PSA of 0.4 and be the end of the trial I was at 1.0. I his had a PSA test yesterday and I’m at 4.5. Compared to my starting point My PSA was 110 and doubling every 3weeks. I’m very happy with the results. I’ll set the results of my Choline PET scan today to see if I have a few dots we can treat to see if we can knock this beast out!

Hopping for great lasting results for you!

When you have done Lu177 psma. And your cancer comes back what happens then, can one get another session? Or can one go back to chemo? Reason i am asking my brother is thinking of doing Lu177 or the newer approach of Actinium 225. They can do both in germany or the netherlands where he lives. However the tendency in the netherlands and especially his oncologist is to wait until there is really no more that chemo can do. At the moment he is on his 3 session of 6 chemo cocktails which he tolerates very well, but only keeps the cancer stable. Pain in hip and back, fracture in hip and one leg/hip top replaced. No organs affected, but major bone cancer spread. Hormone resistant, this is our last hope.

You can still do more chemo after Lu177 but 6 is the max I believe. In my case the Lu177 knocked my cancer back from. Hundreds of Mets to 3 which we’ll treat with SBRT.

Jackpine As part of the Vision trial what were you told would be expected of you to follow up after the six infusions?

Pinejogave,

I have a routine follow up about every 6 weeks but it is voluntary.

Good luck. Kill those lingering cells and beat the beast.

I am so happy to hear about your success! We are about to fly to Homburg (not Hamburg as I thought) for a first treatment. Keep going and hopefully have a great success!

Hamburg and Homburg are two different places, about 300 miles away from each other by air. Hamburg is the bigger city, by far.

Yes, the treatment is done at Homburg.

I know now, I'm just so dumb, I figured different spellings...whatever. The great news is that HOMBURG is a one hour car drive from Metz, France. There is an amazing cathedral with gorgeous old stained glass and Marc Chagall windows. In the same town, a beautiful church with wonderful stained glass created by Jean Cocteau! We will fly in, rent a car and have a vacation one day before a very nasty week for my sweet man. Imagine; all I can do is wave from a lead window "Hi, honey, how you doing?" but there it is. How pathetic it is that young men who have not saved their money forever cannot even imagine these treatments, not in the usa probably for many years.

Excellent plan of action, blueCello !!! How nice to combine a medical visit with some superb touring. All the very best to you, both medically as well as your touring part.

Cheers !!

There is also a clinic in Heidelberg that does this treatment why did you choose Domberg?

blueCello profile image
blueCello

We chose Homburg because we could get in faster. My husband is really starting to feel pain in his spine. Also, i read on this blog that someone had a bad time there, probably unusual but negatives stick in one's head. You can also go to Berlin and I'm not certain where else. I wish we could just go to canada, four hour flight from LA instead of 14!

Has anybody tried actinium 225 seems to be getting even better results than the Lu 177 psma?
