I have a quick question...my husband is starting trial of LU-177 except that in the paperwork they are calling the drug LU-PSMA-R2 I called 2x this morning and I am waiting a call back but is this LU-177? Does anyone know? Thank you
LU-177: I have a quick question...my... - Advanced Prostate...
LU-177
Where is the trial at?
Mount Sinai New York
Hi, Does this mean that LU-177 can still be accessed through a clinical trial here in the United States. I thought it was closed and we were waiting for FDA approval .
I guess LU-PSMA-R2 is "Lu-177 PSMA-R2"
A radioconjugate composed of PSMA-R2, a human prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-targeting ligand, conjugated to the beta-emitting radioisotope lutetium Lu 177. Have not seen any other of the 35 isotopes of lutetium used for PCa, probably because 177 has the most usable half life.
Thank you!!
thank you
You mistakenly think that the radioisotope, Lu-177, is a medicine. It is not. They attach the radioisotope to a "ligand"- a molecule that homes in on the PSMA protein on the cancer cell's surface. So, the medicine is Lu-177 attached to the ligand called PSMA-R2
Well thank you for this!!! Understood. Should he be adding meds while on LU-177?
Usually you continue on whatever you are taking.
Talk Allen he was on docetaxil (5txs) but PSA rose. Stopped chemo and going to LU 177. No meds since chemo ended 28 days ago. Is that ok?
Isn't he taking Lupron or similar?
Yes he is, lupron my apologies
There is a thing called psa flare in some docetaxil patients. Recommend that he has a new set of scans before proceeding!
Hi Tall Allen, I'm confused. First you say "You mistakenly think that the radioisotope, Lu-177, is a medicine. It is not. " . Followed by "So, the medicine is Lu-177 " Am I missing something?
Hi My husband is in this same trial in Wisconsin and it is LU177. If you look carefully at the paperwork you will see a small 177 before the LU. The 177 is about 1/2 half the size of regular letters. My husband will have his first infusion tomorrow. It is the first of four. He has to stay overnight after the first one.
Wow let’s stay in touch if you’d like. My husband is here at mount Sinai New York this morning getting ready for first infusion of LU 177. It will be a 10 hour day but he can go home this evening.
Dear Cloc. Roger had no benefit from the trial. After two treatments he had Psa much higher and scans showed lots of new Mets. We were very disappointed. Now on Xtandi. It seems to be working. Started radiation for pain from Mets in spine. We basically had no treatment for 6 months and cancer went to town. Hope your husband had a better response. Jane
