I got my last four-month injection of Lupron in October. My PSA husband undetectable for over two years so my oncologist said I could take a little vacation.
I got my last four-month injection of Lupron in October. My PSA has been undetectable for over two years so my oncologist said I could take a little vacation.
My question to you out there… When will I stop having hot flashes? They have not diminished at all in frequency or intensity.
Thanks so much!

It takes some time for testosterone to recover. It may take 6 months or more. In some people never recovers. Discuss measuring testosterone along with the PSA.
Everyone reacts differently. I came off Lupron in August after being on it for almost two years. Within a couple of months the hot flashes started decreasing in frequency and intensity though my T level had not started recovering. Now my T level is back to normal and for a while I was getting none but in the last month or so I started getting an occasional mild hot flash at night. Annoying.
I’ve been on a ADT holiday for 2.5 years. Both my PSA and testosterone have been undetectable during the holiday. My hot flashes have remained the same throughout as well.
I too am ending my Lupron after 18 months. I am not going to wait for my testosterone to come back to normal. I want to try TRT to bring it up to normal and hopefully my two friends will wake up in the near future.
Assuming you have a normal T recovery (~5 months after treatment ends), you can expect to see a slow diminution of hot flashes at approximately that point. I was on ADT for 12 months, and my hot flashes were not completely gone until another 12 - 13 months, though they began to subside after about 5 - 6 months.
It seems to depend on the individual. After a couple of months off, my hot flashes, tiredness, etc were much reduced. As always, I think exercise and minimal alcohol assists with minimizing all symptoms.
May depend on your age and how long you have been on ADT. I had the last 3 month shot on March 2, 2021. I still have hot flashes. My Testosterone was 72 in March, 2022.
