I've only met with Dr Aparicio at MD Anderson for a consultation on potential drug trials. I liked her willingness to describe details at the high level of my questions. My cancer is aggressive and hasn't responded well to SOC, so we talked about aggressive cancer variants, and the trials she is running.
You can't go wrong at MD Anderson's Dept of Genitourinary Oncology. Paul Corn is very well known. At Houston Methodist, there is Eleni Efstathiou.
Mayo Rochester doesn't presently have any well-known urologic oncologists. If you live in Minnesota, you are better off with Charles Ryan at the University of Minnesota who is also the President of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Hi TA. Do you have an opinion of Dr Eugene Kwon at Mayo Clinic in Rochester?
Yes- very good for genomic testing. Otherwise, not very good. He's not an oncologist but markets himself to patients and is popular for his unsubstantiated views about MDT that tell patients what they want to hear. He would never get away saying those unsubstantiated things to his peers. He is not an out-of-the-box thinker, just a sloppy one, IMO. I believe he is sincere.
Would you like to recommend an oncologist to me? I live in Fredericksburg, Virginia, about 60 miles south of DC. I have seen many oncologist over the last 11years. I have not found one that I felt was able to help me. Most all followed SOC. Just last month I have been told to go to Hospice, but recently came across DR Kwon who gave me hope and start Jevtanna w/ Carboplatinum. Third dose next Thursday. As of January, I’m wheelchair bound do to a tumor compressing on my nerves inside my spinal column. Any thoughts would be appreciated 😊
