My MO keeps expecting LU-177 to be approved “really soon”. Not sure if he has any special insight, but I can’t find anything that gives a hint of approval timing. Anyone have knowledge on this timing?
Lu-177: My MO keeps expecting LU-177 to... - Advanced Prostate...
Lu-177
I've read that it will be approved in the first half of this year.
My doctor is getting me set up for a PSMA PET scan for imaging to check for progression, but also to see about how PSMA avid I am for future LU-177 treatment.
If you are looking to get the treatment, it might be a good time to discuss getting the PSMA PET scan imaging done since it's needed.
Gregg will you by going off ADT prior to your PSMA PET CT scan to let your PSA rise to a level the psma scan has reasonable resolution?
That’s not a good idea. ADT increases PSMA expression.
I don’t think that is correct. The higher PSA, to a point, the greater likelihood of good resolution from a psma pet ct scan. When my MO ordered that scan (GA68) at UCLA for me I was off ADT but I needed my PSA to rise to from between 0.5 and 1.0
I agree with what you are saying. What I was saying is that I wouldn't go off ADT just to let your PSA rise so you can do a scan. I'm doing a lymph node radiation plan based on a scan that was taken at a PSA of about 0.20. With Lu-177 treatment, some people are going on enzalutamide to increase their PSMA expression, and I would assume that would also increase PSMA expression for scans (but that is just my armchair opinion without studies to back it up).
I have been accepted into the Lu-177 trial but I am being told the required PSMA scan needs a Pylarify injection which my Oncologist office is saying will be $900 per unit and 9 units are required for the scan. for a copay of $8100. I have Medicare Advantage coverage with Aetna.I am working through this with my provider and Aetna but this is the last information I received.
Amy one else experienced a copay of this magnitude?
When I was looking for early access programs, I spoke with the Novartis rep. Official word is by the end of June. It’s my guess that they don’t try to second guess the FDA’s schedule, so that would be the latest.
Nobody knows when it is going to be approved. We hope it will be this year, but it will be approved for patients who failed chemo and the new anti androgens.
"The FDA has accepted the new drug application for 177Lu-PSMA-617 and granted it prior review for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) in the post androgen receptor pathway inhibition, post-taxane-based chemotherapy setting, according to a press release issued by Novartis".
No one can possibly know. It's in the FDA's hands now.
Needs to be available for all prostate cancer patients as an early treatment tool, rather than just those in the last stages, in my opinion.
Yes. Why wouldn't it be?
Yes! Had two treatments early in my treatment plan and had a big impact. ( to the good)Dr. Baum in Germany told me he feels it is more effective early.
My husband's onc. has been saying that since last July. 😔 He ended up decided to do Xofigo
