Thanks for sharing 💯
BAT is pretty far out there on it's own.
It's purpose is to resensitize prostate cancer to androgen deprivation therapy.
BATs place is for use in the later stages of the disease.
Radiation's place is in the early stage of the disease before it has metastasized.
So this doesn't seem like it should be an issue of relevance. No?
I would have agreed but I ran across a couple of papers about using high testosterone, along with radiation, to amplify DSBs.
I am hoping to use BAT in the early stages to keep my self in a hormone sensitive state.
Me too. Resensitization to AR drugs, delay of CRPC, and perhaps delay of resistance to other AR drugs are the things I hope for. Doesn't hurt that modified BAT is great for muscle and QoL. My friends ask me how I'm making the mass gains at 60 and I always tell them "get prostate cancer". My MO seems amazed at my state and always asks me about my programs. She has advice about some things but rarely tries to talk me out of anything I'm doing.
Speaking of muscles, I have changed my free weight exercise routine to emphasize hypertrophy vs. strength - i.e. less weight, more reps and eventually more sets with much shorter rest periods in between. I used to do one set of ten exercises with 15 reps then repeat the list a second time.
Now I do the same lift with 15 reps, 3 times(sets) in a row with a very short rest in between, goal is to increase reps and sets until I reach muscle fatigue, then move on to next exercise.
I like your theory that PCa and muscles are competing for the same resources, so building muscles starves the cancer cells and inhibits their growth. Even if your wrong the result will be larger muscles ;-))
I need to expand that section. Lots of theories and data.
But, yeah, doesn't really matter. Bigger muscles are better for me!
I'm currently doing two workouts a day. A 40-minute session in the morning that focuses on strength and longer rests (lots of simple 5x5s). A 15-20 minute hypertrophy session in the evening. It's similar to what you are doing, 8-12 reps and 30-60 second rests. Slow strict reps.
I've been doing this for a few months. Sometimes I go away from it for a week or so and then right back. Works great for me.
