Expanded access allows a patient with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer access to an investigative medical product prior to its commercial availability. This is not a trial. The disclosure states that I will be provided with information defining which procedures, tests, or drugs that I will be responsible. My PSMA scan is scheduled for 24 November and my first injection should be the first or second week on December. This is available at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD if anyone is interested. I was the second person to sign up. More information at hopkinsmedicine.org/kimmel_...

EXPANDED ACCESS FOR Lu-PSMA-617
Great post, thanks for getting this out!
That’s great that you are getting treated so quickly. I had a PSMA scan on October 15, and got accepted to the access program at UCLA. My first treatment wasn’t going to be until January 13, but an opening on the schedule came up last week. With more sites opening, the wait times should go down for everyone
Since this isn’t a trial, what is the estimated cost of the injection?
I do not know at this time, but I would guess it would be the same as when it is commercially available with the exception of scans that the OEM wants to determine effectiveness. But, we will have to wait and see.
With the expanded access program at UCLA, there is no cost for the drug. I believe this is true everywhere.
There are $1300 in treatment related costs that I think are covered by insurance. I had to pay out of pocket on my first treatment. I was taking advantage of an opening in the waiting list, and then hadn’t received preapproval yet
No jokes. This sounds great if you can pull it off.
Much appreciated. Way to share!Mike
Congratulations. Sounds like you are moving through the process quickly. Who is your Doctor at Hopkins ?
What is your status skateguy? Any updates for us please?
I was negative for PSMA. So I looked into trial’s. I was scheduled to get evaluated for a CAR-T trial at Columbia in Manhattan about two weeks ago. Prior to going in, cancer in my spine effected my nerves and basically confined me to a wheelchair. I was told that Hospice was the next step. However, I found one Dr who thinks he may help me. Arriving the Mayo Clinic tomorrow to be evaluated to see if they can reverse this hasty disease. Have fun and good luck.
