Man Boobs/ Breast/ Chest?

erjlg3 profile image
104 Replies

Hello Dear Family,

I hope and pray this finds everyone as great as possible❤

Has anyone found anything better in the clothing to make the man boobs look not as big. Elgie had tried some years ago and was not comfortable in them. I was wondering if they've made anything better that someone here may have tried and are pleased with. He is feeling more self conscious lately.

Thanks so very much,

🌻Jackie

My Carhart Bib overalls seem to do the trick.. but then I live in small town (1200) in farming/logging area , so they look normal up here.

in reply toShooter1

Carhart rocks. I’ve got a jacket from 1989. When I asked my uro about chopping the boys . He said “ who’s going to see it anyway”? Good day Shooter.

Why not try to get rid of them with tamoxifen 20 mg/day?

StayPositive1 profile image
StayPositive1 in reply toTall_Allen

Tamoxifen works. I stopped taking it because of the incremental side effects though. I’m scheduled for the radiation that Guitar mentioned.

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply toStayPositive1

Radiation doesn't work as well, and won't reverse what is already there.

Which side effects? If blood clots, you can get a transdermal tamoxifen that will not cause them.

erjlg3 profile image
erjlg3 in reply toTall_Allen

WOW!! From the doctor TallAllen?

How long does it take to work?

erjlg3 profile image
erjlg3 in reply toStayPositive1

What were the side effects stay positive?

StayPositive1 profile image
StayPositive1 in reply toerjlg3

For me it caused anxiety and irritability. I had a lot of starts and stops before I gave it up. I think it’s worth a try because it does work.

squidlicious profile image

Boob radiation didn’t work for me plus they overcooked and now my moobs are pink.

squidlicious profile image

Correction: it’s possible the radiation prevented more growth but hard to know.

What were your side effects to tamoxifen?

erjlg3 profile image
erjlg3 in reply toTall_Allen

Really Tall Allen's? Is this a supplement?

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply toerjlg3

Not a supplement. The doctor has to prescribe it.

erjlg3 profile image
erjlg3 in reply toTall_Allen

Do you have a brand? It will take them away?

Tall_Allen profile image
Tall_Allen in reply toerjlg3

For the transdermal? A compounding pharmacy will make it to the doctor's prescription. 20 mg pills will take them away if they haven't settled in too long.

Thanks so much TallAllen!!!

Tall_Allen profile image

Once connective tissue forms, tamoxifen can no longer reverse it. A dermatologist can inject cortisone into it, which will dissolve the mammary tissue. If that doesn't work, scraping it out surgically is the only option.

If the man breasts are being caused by the cancer drugs talk with a radiologist oncologist. there is something they can do to stop the process from getting worse but not reverse anything. It has worked for me.

in reply toguitar116ce

Hey guitar! So , you were radiated for this? How did that go for you?

guitar116ce profile image
guitar116ce in reply to

Yes, 3 short sessions to each breast. That has stop any further development because the drugs. It won’t decrease or reverse what was there already.

Anything to help! Great job. Mine really don’t bother me much yet😷👍

My best to Elgie! A man-zeer..? Brozeer? I hope that he’s not like meatloaf in fight club.? I think I’m working only on an a-cup myself. I try to stay covered to spare the wife the visual details of my demise. Self esteem and my ego flew out the window long ago for me. I don’t look into mirrors . I avoided my own reflection. Much love to you❤️

VHRguy profile image

For what it's worth, my radiation oncologist was not a fan of irradiating breasts to avoid gynecomastia. He suggested eventual surgery if they really bothered me.

I figured if the guy who makes money administering radiation wasn't in favor of that, I'd agree with him.

Hmm... Hey Jackie,

I'm crazy and maybe obsessed about my attire and "looks" at age 72 and (many members of the forum may think I'm just plain crazy😋)

So, need a few details:

Age, height, waist, weight and most importantly, your desired fashion "look"

Here is a pic of me last winter"

Now this is after HDR Brachy, 25 days of IMRT, Casodex, lupron, Zytiga and prednisone!

Now in my humble opinion, I'm the essence of "cool" (its in my DNA!)

However, "Darling wife of 48 years", refers to me, occasionally, as a real ahole!🤔

Hmm...

After ADT!

westof profile image
westof in reply tomaley2711

The photo came from a 2020 post re: Covid garb:

"So, here is my self defense kit:

1) Multiple N 95 masks.

2) Thin winter left hand glove (for opening doors), which I continually spray with...

3) Seventh Generation disinfectant. It claims to kill 99.99 germs and viruses and its not caustic, like Lysol. One day I made the mistake of opening a door with my RIGHT hand!😧 I just gave it a short spritz and went on my merry way.

Now, I don't post often (reply a lot) and if you don't hear from me in the next few weeks...

Just chalk it up to another failed experiment 😢."

No man boobs. At the time of my dx (3 years ago) my weight was 168.

It dropped to 161 during ADT and is now 154 after I tapered off Z & P in January.

dimethyl sulfoxide gel formula is what I use. Also liquid available. Sorry, not approved for human use. Horse meds work well if not ingested (JMHO).

westof profile image
westof in reply toShooter1

Hey Shooter, I use NO Odor 99.995% Pharma Grade liquid DMSO. I get a roll on applicator from Amazon (DMSO store).

WebMD goes into great depth explaining:

webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingre...

Here is an interesting review from WebMD:

"I grew up on a ranch in the 1950's and we always had DMSO in the barn, because it is HORSE LINAMENT! Having four generations all living on the ranch at the same time, I was not aware that as my relatives got older, they began putting 12 drops under their tongue, twice a day (which is what I have done, since my mid-30's). My great grand-father told me that he took it like that because it kept his arteries soft and pliable (no plaque or clots), plus, it just made him feel better. He was 110 when he died of natural causes and all of the old-timers in my family lived to their mid-90's. His wife, my great-grandmother died from complications of a broken hip, when she was 101. None of the old-folks in my family died of cancer or any type of disease. The ranch is still in my family, and for those who don't live there anymore, I am sure they did not use DMSO, because they have died in their mid-80's and only a few in their early 90's. Look on the label, if it says USP, then it is as safe as any health-store supplement with the same rating. I am sharing this, here, only to inform of it's effects to me and my family. Live long and prosper!"

Hmm... YMMV!😃

Boywonder56 profile image
Boywonder56 in reply towestof

Is that the stuff years ago people had to go to Mexico to get for rheumatoid arthritis

westof profile image
westof in reply toBoywonder56

No, its been around for awhile:

"DMSO, or dimethyl sulfoxide, is a by-product of paper making. It comes from a substance found in wood. DMSO has been used as an industrial solvent since the mid-1800s. From about the mid-20th century, researchers have explored its use as an anti-inflammatory agent"

I went to Costa Rica in 2012 to have my little titties taken out. Looked horrible on a slender guy. It cost me around three thousand including travel. Very good result at a top notch cosmetic surgery facility. I enjoyed some tourism while I was there. It's a 45 minute procedure and plastic surgeons up here wanted $15K, insurance doesn't pay. Women get all the breast cosmetic surgery they want after cancer. Not fair. So effectively I've had a double mastectomy . . . 😀 btw, tamoxifen and breast bud radiation were of no help for me.

I have found that the Duluth Trading "No-Yank Shelf Bra Tank" works great as an undershirt. Everything is stable and minimized with it. It just reads under clothing like a regular tank-style t-shirt. You just have to get over the words associated with the garment!
